Good Call on the Fleashtones

I love thier first EP witht the song "cold cold shoes" and "can you feel the heat" it was a 6 som ep from IRS it was blue and i don't have it anymore sucks for me but I can't think of the title?????? Also thier Roman God album was awsome with my favorite song from them "Shadow Line" and "R.I.G.H.T.S." which I remember was the first song on side two. The Fleashtones a perfect soundtract for drunken newaver parties ah.. the memories.

heres another classic
The Germs - GI

Good call on Magazine, you should also add the Real Life LP also.

OK one more SF band
The Avengers - S/T

new wave still rules after all these centeries

One more album that is really special and I don't know how I could forget to mention it is "Too Late At 20" by The Act, fronted by Nick Laird-Clowes, who later went on to form The Dream Academy.

I LOVED Sont Suppose by Limahl!! Im surprised I forgot ot mention it!

Its just synth pop--standars synthpop, only warm sounding like Naked Eyes (Another AWSOME group!!) and with punchy synth-bass.

Too bad his followup (co written with Giorgio Moroder) and his concluding albums werent nearly as good, except for about 4 songs.

X-Ray Specs and Classix Nouveaux are awsome!
They got a best of CD available! I just got it--only to lend it to a friend-which it fell in between the seats in her car. when I asked for it back-I heard it crunch to 3 pieces when she moved the seat back--

another meaningless story courtesy of me.

Pseudo Echo is also awsome. Their follow-ups to Funky Town were much cooler--another gem that should have topped the charts.

I've tried to resist this thread cuz I know that I'll be forgetting some of my faves, but here goes (in no particular order). Hey Spaz, impressive list, especially with all of the *pop* bands on it. I thought only three other people and I have ever heard the Lonely Boys album! I once ordered a CD thinking it was THE Lonely Boys but it turned out to be a duo from Sweden, but I kept it because it was still a pretty good pop album. Back to your list, of course, I love the Records, Bluebells, Sorrows, Elektrics, 20/20 etc. If you haven't heard them already, I'd like to suggest checking out Squire, The Jetset, Hurrah!, Biff Bang Pow!, "This Is Mod" compilations, The Times, Television Personalities, Mood Six, The Last, etc.

I THINK THAT THE ORIGINAL MIRRORS SELF TITLED ALBUM HAS BEEN OVERLOOKED IN THIS LENGTHY LIST.

Some of my faves are:

Fad Gadget - Fireside Favourites
Fad Gadget - Incontinent
Fay Ray - Contact You
Blue in Heaven - All the God's Men
Frank Chickens - We Are Frank Chickens
Frank Chickens - Get Chickenized
Stump - A Fierce Pancake
Annabel Lamb - The Flame
Pearl Harbour - Don't Follow Me, I'm Lost Too

These are just a very small fraction of some relatively obscure albums that were BRILLIANT...and generally overlooked.

favorite New Wave albums that few people ever heard or never got the widespread recognition they deserved.

Here's a few: Some have made it to CD!

The Drongos - self titled & small miracles (a NZ band)
Guadacanal Diary - all
The Underdogs (a boston band)
The CaveDogs - all (another boston band -incredable!)
Zeitgeist / The Reivers - all
The dB's - all
Marshall Crenshaw - all (just saw him play again this summer, still great)
Midnight Oil - Powderworks (1st lp ROCKS)
The Bongos - (previously mentioned, worth another mention, don't forget Nut's & Bolts by Mastro & Barone)
Tuatara - Flying Nun compilation of NZ bands
Attack of the Killer B's - B-side compilation
Return of the Killer B's - " "(I used to buy a lot of cutout / promo compilations)
Christmas - In Excelsior Dayglo (words can not express...)
Dundin Duel EP - Chills / Sneaky Feelings / Stones / Verlaines (more NZ stuff, 2 EPs, each band got a side)

Separated for special mention:
The Sound - virtually every thing by them (& Adrian Borland before & after the Sound) but specifically: Live Instict EP (just got included as bonus tracks on a reissue) & Shock of Daylight (previously mentioned)
I truly feel The Sound has to have been the most overlooked band of the 80's. I have never met in person anyone who ever even heard of them but glad to see a few of you have! Check out http://www.brittleheaven.com/ for more info. I've got NO connection other than being a big fan.

Sorry for the long post, My 1st!

I really don't know all the albums that are listed here, because there was so many to look over,so if anyone else listed the albums by the artists I am going to post,I am sorry because I didn't see and read every post. Here are some of my favorite New Wave rarities.

The Rockats-Make That Move
Blue Zoo-Self Titled I believe on RCA Records.Kinda Duran Duran clones in a way.But way better and alot less commercial too.
Shy Talk-self Titled on Columbia Records.Includes minor singles that got some airplay years back on WLIR radio. The songs "She Was Always On Time, and "That Is A Friend"

Radio Berlin-Dance The Youth-A local Florida New Wave Synthpop band.
Sons Of Heroes on MCA
Robert Ellis Orrall's 1st album, featuring "Call The Uh Oh Squad" What a great song that was.It is also a great LP too.
For now that is all I can think of.I highly doubt that any of these albums were ever made onto CD.
