OK, I'll chime in here -- these are the songs I remember the most while growing up in the 70's -- while these songs are not on my overall favorites playlist now, I do look fondly at them as they were part of the soundtrack of my formative youth (3rd - 9th grade):

I also remember seeing the Beatles "White" album at some store about 1970, but my parents did't really buy popular music. The first albums I bought for myself were The Eagles "Hotel California" and Led Zeppelin "In Through the Out Door"

Sorry, I know this is starting to get way off topic, but I felt I had to make one more comment. I'm sure Wolverine's metallic lime green stingray really set off his read hair. (Of course, we don't go THAT far back.)
