BSP do Decline Of British Sea Power

Postby Frau_Blucher » Sun Apr 08, 2012 12:04 am

The first album done in its entirety in their home base...I couldn't miss this even if it meant traveling 8000 miles to spend just 52 hours in-country. It would have been worth 10 times the effort.

Setlist:
Men Together Today
Apologies to Insect Life
Favours in the Beetroot Fields
Something Wicked
Remember Me
Fear of Drowning
The Lonely
Carrion
Blackout
Lately
A Wooden Horse
---
Heavenly Waters
Childhood Memories
Scottish Wildlife Experience
Spirit of St Louis
A Lovely Day Tomorrow
Brakes' All Night Disco Party
Rock in A with Clash's Police On My Back

The crowd was a seething mass of joyful humanity. Most everyone up front quite delirious. The sweat drenched everything and everyone. My voice was lost. People vomited afterwards from heatstroke. I finally had to crawl out of the pit to take video of Lately.

Rewind to Brighton at dusk, a good 8 hours into the drinking already:

The stage is literally set. Best display of flora of fauna for a BSP gig:

Eamon has come over from the States as well, and Roy reads excerpts about him from his fine book "Do It For Your Mum":

The sultry black magic of the band Purson comes next:

And we are of course all entranced by the absolutely incredible deep captivating siren song of Rosalie:

It's then all a blur until the encore where Eamon starts his shenanigans:

De rigour surfing:

Head about to penetrate drum:

Noble with his typical stage/balcony climbing acrobatics:

Amazing b-sides like A Lovely Day Tomorrow were played:
<img src="http://blir.smugmug.com/Music/Krankenhaus-4/i-w424vS8/0/M/1000533-M.jpg">

Then the whole thing ends with a playing of Brakes' All Night Disco Party, and it was, well into the wee hours:

Stages are invaded:
<img src="http://blir.smugmug.com/Music/Krankenhaus-4/i-8wPTzDt/0/M/1000558-M.jpg">

Aftershow dancers and other oddities are brought on, though I now barely remember this part and its purpose:
<img src="http://blir.smugmug.com/Music/Krankenhaus-4/i-Nk2GQVS/0/M/1000553-M.jpg">

DJ sets with Temptation and Ceremony are played for old men:

Lots of words here, but really no words to explain my deeply grateful and sated state. This will be a cherish adventure for a long long time.

J, there was actually a friend Neil who recorded the whole album part from stage front. Not perfect quality but should be posting in the next couple of days. in meantime, bits are starting to crop up on youtube:

The Lonely (my long-sleeved arm thrusting skyward can be seen multiple times on the left side of the frame):

Heavenly Waters (where various folk at various times doubled over in euphoric loss of bodily control):
