Detroit Fans Furious About Nickleback At Halftime

Postby djcraig » Thu Nov 03, 2011 8:34 am

Motor City fans are angry about the wankerish rock band's proposed appearance during the Thanksgiving game. They're so pissed that one fan started an online petition to have the Lions change the halftime show. According to the petition:

“This game is nationally televised, do we really want the rest of the US to associate Detroit with Nickelback? Detroit is home to so many great musicians and they chose Nickelback?!?!?! Does anyone even like Nickelback? Is this some sort of ploy to get people to leave their seats during halftime to spend money on alcoholic beverages and concessions? This is completely unfair to those of us who purchased tickets to the game. At least the people watching at home can mute their TVs. The Lions ought to think about their fans before choosing such an awful band to play at halftime.”

One thing's for sure, if Nickleback takes the stage they'd be wise to wear protective headgear.

We give and give and give to the US and this is the thanks we get. Maybe we'll just take Celine and Justin and go home.

No, actually it didn't ... but it's no surprise you weren't quick enough on the uptake to realize it.

Now this warms my heart:

"Rock & roll is dying because people became OK with Nickelback being the biggest band in the world... Rock & roll is the music I feel the most passionately about, and I don't like to see it fucking ruined and spoon-fed down our throats in this watered-down, post-grunge crap, horrendous shit. When people start lumping us into that kind of shit, it's like, ‘Fuck you,' honestly." -Patrick Carney of The Black Keys
