Band of The Year: The Joy Formidable
I saw them 6 times live and they rocked every time.

Song of The Year: Foster The People - Pumped Up Kicks
Not even in my top 50 on my personal list but I'll be damned if I didn't find myself singing along in the grocery store and everywhere else I went that had the radio on which makes it even more crazy because of the subject matter.

TV Show of the Year: The Walking Dead
So many great shows - Dexter, Workaholics, The Killing, Terriers, Homeland, Californication, Shameless to name a few favorites it was hard picking just one.

Concert of The Year: maybe it doesn't really count but SXSW is unsurpassed

Book Of The Year: N/A (they all just piled up, unread, apparently I am waiting for the movie)

Movie Of The Year: I'm hoping with such a weak year that The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is great. Nothing else really seemed to be that memorable.

whats your best or worst of anything in 2011?

Ooh look, a list! [:p]

Band of the Year - British Sea Power
As great as TJF were, these guys are still the most personally meaningful band to me. Saw them from LA to NY and a few points inbetween. Even when they didn't make it to Marfa TX due to wild fires (while I did!), the roadtrip surrounding the whole debacle ended up being epic. Most epic of all was drinking with them to the wee hours after an immense Bowery Ballroom show that could have been the best gig of my life.

Gig of the Year: BSP - Bowery Ballroom
TJF at Buffalo Billiards came a close second, while everything else was a good deal below these.

Song of the Year: Holy Ghost! - Wait and See
There's better songs, but none made me as giddy as this wickedly fun, pure new wave send-up.

Album of the Year: there wasn't one
None from this year stood head and shoulders above like last year when Deerhunter's masterpiece Halcyon Digest blew me away.

TV Show fo the Year: Fringe
Agreed on other greats like Dexter and Homeland, but I'm most engaged with these characters.

Book of the Year: View From A Hill - Mark Burgess
Not a great book by any means, but I loved reading about Mark and the Chameleons.

Movie of the Year: Midnight In Paris
I wish I were joking. It completely hooked me.

Roadtrip of the Year: Marfa and Big Bend TX
What a strange adventure/debacle. Finally got to visit the site of the "Dom" burial from the movie Fandango.

Is the Fincher version better than the overated swedish film? That one felt like it was 4 hours. Maybe the book was better.

As far as Dexter, this season was really horrid and had alot more plotholes and contradictions than the previous seasons

Tv shows that were enjoyable were American Horror, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, Homeland and Fringe

I wouldn't classify the season as horrid as the end made up for some just God-awful episodes that seemed entirely pointless, definitely the toughest season overall though.

Its a nice surprise but I have been spoiled that it wasnt able to outdo season 4's twist ending. Besides 2 awful seasons in a row makes me hesitant to renew showtime next fall if it wasn't for Homeland.

Worried for sure about the show's fate.

I recall only having given Mark a 20 spot as he signed it. [8D]
