Guys, thank you very much for the kind words - so appreciated! In return - and just in time for Christmas as well as keeping up with the schedule - here's Volume 4 :D More international this time, though, as most foreign (i.e. non-UK) bands usually used album songs as B-sides, their representation is limited. Still, something is better than nothing, right? As usual, some "name" bands and some obscure ones, though all quite solid, so enjoy! And Merry Christmas!

01. Fischer-Z - Bigger slice now
02. The Invaders - Much closer still
03. Icehouse - Over the line
04. The Stranglers - In one door
05. Fiction Factory - Old game blue flame
06. Stephen 'Tin-Tin' Duffy - Push it
07. Fred - Reactor lightning
08. Antena - Spiral staircase
09. Names - The drive
10. Frankie Goes to Hollywood - The waves
11. H2O - Turn back in anger
12. Mobiles - Tiptoe in paradise
13. B-Movie - Drowning man
14. Fatal Charm - I'm sure not in tune with it
15. Squeeze - Trust
16. CaVa CaVa - See saw and sway
17. Bow Wow Wow - Sun sea and piracy
18. Severed Heads - Mount
19. Pink Industry - Ticket to heaven
20. Strawberry Switchblade - By the sea

Hey guys! Fifth volume already - times really does fly! Let's close this tough, unpredictable year with something eclectic and all over the place. Personally for a long time I was against such concoctions but in time came to appreciate them (if done right). Somehow three bands from Ireland ended up here, I noticed only when compiling the accompanying notes - and decided not to anything about it. Overall, nearly half are from outside UK (again not really planned), so nicely international. Also reminds us what the B-sides were used for - experiments! So wish you all a nice listening - and, of course, a Happy New Year! See you in 2025 :D

01. 1000 Mexicans - Chinese whispers
02. U2 - J. Swallo
03. The Higher Primates - Living in a vacuum
04. Kajagoogoo - Animal instincts
05. Cosmic Overdose - Dead
06. The Boomtown Rats - Europe looked ugly
07. Talking Heads - I wish you wouldn't say that
08. Modern English - Incident
09. Minny Pops - Island
10. The Undertones - Fairly in the money now
11. Furniture - To Gus
12. A Certain Ratio - ...And then again
13. Bill Nelson - Be my dynamo
14. Blue Zoo - Chameleon waves
15. Pete Wylie & The Oedipus Wrecks - I want the moon, mother
16. a-ha - Stop! And make your mind up
17. Private Lives - Break up
18. Care - An evening in the ray
19. Fatal Gift - So dear so cheap
20. Dekka Danse - Drowning by the hour

Ok! So now's the time for the first compilation of this year in this series. Thank you all so very much for all your kind and encouraging feedback - gives me great motivation to continue! This one I spent a bit too much time on, juggling the song order constantly, don't really know why :D This constant search for the perfect tracklist is futile, I know, but so addictive!
This volume is generally bigger on guitars than previous ones, though there are quite a few very interesting ones, showing the multitude of approaches characteristic of our favourite era, and I couldn't resist adding some, let's say, unusual ones just to spice things up a bit. Hope you like the results!

01. Echo & The Bunnymen - Simple stuff
02. Pete Shelley - In love with somebody else
03. Shriekback - Nerve
04. The Danse Society - Seen the light
05. Radio Berlin - Political pop
06. The Cure - The exploding boy
07. The Psychedelic Furs - Soap commercial
08. The Sisters of Mercy - Train
09. Combo Audio - It's a сrime
10. Gloria Mundi - Nothing to say
11. The Police - A sermon
12. After the Fire - Every mother's son
13. Cowboys International - Millions
14. M - M factor
15. Johnny Warman - Jon Glass
16. Madness - Fireball XL5
17. Fiat Lux - Comfortable life
18. New Order - Mesh
19. The Wake - Give up
20. Virgin Prunes - Sleep/Fantasy dreams

New volume here. We're halfway down through the series, guys :D Not much to say about this one - some big names, as usual, with some more obscure ones (though for lovers of the genre they're all have to be familiar in one way or the other), ranging from very commercial to quite experimental. A mixed bag for sure :D Enjoy!

01. Hey! Elastica - Elastican chant No. 2
02. Models - Preacher from the Black lagoon
03. Young Marble Giants - Cakewalking
04. The Regents - Hole in the heart
05. The Monochrome Set - Surfing S.W.12
06. The Passions - (Don't talk to me) I'm shy
07. Bauhaus - Harry
08. UB40 - Dream a lie
09. Altered Images - Surprise me
10. Duran Duran - Late bar

14. OMD - Maria Gallante
15. The Belle Stars - Blame
16. Men at Work - Shintaro
17. Joe Jackson - Don't ask me
18. X-Mal Deutschland - Drowned you
19. Eyeless in Gaza - Lilt of music

Hi there all! This new volume is a special one - should be subtitled "Victims of the loudness war", I guess. Quite a few songs I couldn't get from vinyl or original/early CD reissues so had to use the recent CD/digital transfers. Sometimes they stood out so much - like being twice as loud (or more) as the preceding and following songs - I had to group them together so as to not disrupt the flow too much. Also, I came across a couple of vinyl transfers which for some reason were as loud as these compressed CDs so those have fit right in.

So here they are, and the following volume will be of the same sort. Pity, really - quite a few outstanding songs here, like those from Buggles, Landscape, Hazel O'Connor, Talking Drums (great band, by the way, highly recommended!), Random Hold and Karen Marks. Though I won't say there are any slackers really - "the stuff" are pretty diverse but nothing to sneeze at, thankfully. I hope you'll have a pleasant time listening to this program! :D

01. Buggles - Blue nylon
02. Slow Children - That statue moved
03. It's Immaterial - Solid piles of food
04. Landscape III - Feel so right
05. David Harrow - Reflections
06. In Embrace - Red blue eyes
07. Jane & Jeff Hudson - Dream
08. Robert Rental - On location
09. r.l. crutchfield's Dark Day - Invisible man
10. Honey Bane - Negative exposure
11. Snips - Noise
12. Hazel O'Connor - Fire away
13. Talking Drums - Descartes lives
14. Neon - Remote control
15. Our Daughters Wedding - Hotel room
16. The Sound - Oiled
17. Mosfets - Power games
18. The Naughtiest Girl Was a Monitor - Sensation/No sensation
19. Random Hold - Cause & effect
20. Karen Marks - Won't wear it for long

correction

Postby Passing_Stranger » Wed Jan 22, 2025 8:04 am

Hate when that happens, try to avoid it but sometimes it slips by. Was just casually reviewing the volumes and it suddenly dawned on me - one song must be changed: Duran Duran's one in Volume 7. Their first B-side "Late bar" has been a favourite of mine recently, a late discovery, admittedly, but it just became obvious that it'll fit the tracklist and the mood and the flow etc of the compilation much, much better than "Secret Oktober". So I just changed it :D Please redownload the file (a new link is in the updated entry) and see for yourself. The substituted song will go on a separate volume, which I plan to post later.

Sorry for the hassle, hopefully that's the only time such thing will happen with the thread.
