Dueling formats

I'm not a techie, so this may be a silly question.

I'm trying to make a mix CD with songs that are in various formats, but with no success. I have the following types of files on my computer:
1. mp3 files that I downloaded from various places on the web
2. MPGA files, also from the web
3. songs that I copied from my CDs (Windows Media Player files), and
4. songs that I downloaded from itunes.

I can't get them all to burn on the same disc. I understand that the itunes format is proprietary, so those songs aren't compatible with anything else. The mp3 and MPGA downloads I can burn with Nero, the mp3 downloads alone will burn on Real Player, and my CD copied songs will burn on Windows Media Player. But I can't get all of the songs to burn on one program, so I can't put them all on one disc. I've tried to convert their formats, with no success. Help! Does anybody have any suggestions?

Using WindowsXP? Try copying all the songs to a folder, place a brand new CD into your drive, open windows explorer, drag the folder (or just the songs) onto the your CD drive folder, this should open a wizard which will step you through the burning proce

What you have is a mishmash of different compressed file formats. I'm not surprised that your CD writing software is having trouble. While CD writing software will often convert some formats "on the fly" (mp3 to CD Audio for instance), I doubt any will

I think Fritz answered most of your questions manekineko. The only sticklers will be the iTunes purchased songs that are in protected AAC format. Those can only burn from iTunes. However, since iTunes can handle MP3, AAC, AIFF, WAV, and Apple Lossless, yo

Wait manekineko, I think a couple of things are amiss here. You should NEVER feel you have to transcode MP3s and WMAs to AAC! You're degrading your audio quality considerably. Keep them in their native formats. iTunes can handle it.

I'download a free or trial version of a music file converter google "mp3 coverter" and convert everything to mp3 before the burn.

Oops, my bad on some of this. I was thinking WAV not WMA. It will indeed convert WMA upon import into the format and resolution that you selected in your Preferences. You probably still have the default ACC encoder chosen. For me it's MP3/192kbps unless I
