There's only four versions.

7" / 'Burning Bridges' LP version (thunderclap, church bells) (on CD - 2012 'Burning Bridges')
7" Jellybean mix (drums) (on CD - 1991 'Best Of', 1994 'Promises Promises - Very Best Of', 2018 'Naked Eyes')
12" Tony Mansfield mix (on CD - 1992 'Hardest Hits Volume 2' Canadian various artists compilation) NOTE: this mix was also released on a 1991 CD single in Canada but is faded out early.
12" American Remix (by Jellybean) (on CD - 2012 'Burning Bridges', 2018 'Naked Eyes') NOTE: this mix is on the 2002 'Everything And More' CD but it is mistakenly listed as the Mansfield mix.

I just got done listening to the version on Hardest Hits and it is completely different from the Tony Mansfield 12". It is almost like a dub version for the first 2 minutes. There isn't any singing until 2:38 in the Hardest hits version whereas the Mansfield version starts singing at 54 seconds. There is always a vocoder intro and way more drums and church bells in the Mansfield version.

Freshy, you knew on the 'Everything And More' CD, the Mansfield mix of "Always" is listed wrong and is actually the Jellybean mix, right?
The Jellybean mix vocal starts off at 54 seconds.

So the Mansfield 12" mix has never been on CD?

It was the version most familiar to us here in the Toronto area as that version was aired on CFNY back in the 80's.

That's from a master. EMI back then were an excellent label to deal with.

Long thread.. i missed that the Mansfield mix on Everything and More was actually Jellybean.. Crazy... Love the wide extent of knowledge that people have in this group. Too bad the manufacturers didn't employ some of you as fact checkers...
