Obscure Disco/dance

I know, we're all here for the new wave.
I have noticed in this section and others, some talk about & requests for different dance songs, or discussion about different sub-genres.
I've got a monsterous collection of pre-80's dance music. Most of it is album tracks, and quite a few forgotton 12 inch singles. I know that would make some of your toenails curl, but for others, it might be something you're in to.

I could put a few songs each week into a folder and throw it on the hub if anyone is interested.
Say the word & it's done!

I'd love to hear what you've got Wolverine. Disco dance is fine by me. Let us know if you do put them up on the hub. [8D]

Ok! I’ve uploaded a folder of 10 songs. It’s called Obscure Rare Disco. I’ll add a new folder every week or two.
For 6/19/05:

Baciotti – Black Jack 1979 – Italian track, sounds like a Giorgio Moroder production. Pretty spacey syth tune.

Sylvester/Two Tons of Fun – Blackbird – I included this live cut from Sylvester’s 1979 Living Proof LP because it’s such a phenomenal version of the Beatles song. It’s clear that Sylvester and the girls lived this song & were waiting for their moment to be free. Sylvester has a real special place in my heart

Supremes – Driving Wheel 1975 From the Supremes era without Diana Ross. I don’t see why they needed her in the first place.

Thelma Houston – I’m Here Again – 1978, from her album Devil in Me, real similar to Don’t Leave Me This Way. It features some great orchestral movement and string build-up. This song truly moves!

Donna McGhee – It Ain’t No Big Thing – 1978. This was a great surprise for me. I had never heard of her & this has become one of my favorite songs from the era. Nice chugging mid-tempo groove, interesting voice. I like the synth work, it’s nothing special, but it sticks with you.

Esther Phillips – Last Night Changed it All – 1975. Another surprise, very funky break down, great back-up work. I like the optimism in the song.

Gibson Brothers – Oooooh What a Life 1979. You might be familiar with their song Que Sera Mi Vida. This is a little different, a darker groove. I like it a lot!

Tasha Thomas – Shoot Me 1978. This is perhaps the dirtiest sounding song I’ve ever heard. The late, great Tasha’s husky voice, mixes perfectly with the heavy mid-tempo funk groove.

Sheila B. Devotion – Spacer 1979. This was sampled heavily on Alcazar’s Crying at the Discotech. Excellent song produced by Bernard Edwards & Nile Rogers of Chic fame.

Crown Heights Affair – You Gave Me Love 1978. You may be familiar this as it was used on The Utah Saints great techno song “My Mind Must Me Free.” This is a fun, happy song, excellent call & response chorus, and I love those girls in the background doing whatever that noise is!

Do you have "single Bed" by Fox (ie Noosha Fox & her band?) I only have a crappy rip from the Crap from the Past episode I heard it on.

I uploaded another round - the folder is 6/26/05

Linda Clifford - If My Friends Could See Me Now - not necessarily rare or obscure, but it's a hard to find longer mix.

Donna Summer - Down Deep Inside, from the movie The Deep. As far as I know it was never put on one of her albums.

Denise McCann - Tattoo Man - a little punk/new wave inspired disco

Andrea True - Party Line

Candi Staton - I Know - one of the best voices in the genre

Bionic Boogie - Dance Little Dreamer

Queen Samantha - Take a Chance

Taste of Honey - Do It Good

I wasn't around when disco was...and since I've been listening to it a lot there are several songs I'm looking for now, not necesarrily sure if they're rare, but hey, disco music is hard to come by nowadays unless it happens to be one of the HUGE chart toppers which I most likely already have.

So anyway, here's a list of ones I'm looking for, if you've got 'em and can hub em that'd be great.

Claudja Barry - Boogie Woogie Dancin Shoes
Four Seasons - Who Loves You
The Raes - Little Lovin'
Olivia Newton John - Make a Move on Me
Olivia Newton John - Heart Attack (Hell I'd probably just take a whole album of hers)
Alan O'Day - Undercover Angel

If you, or anyone can do anything I appreciate it!

I have the Raes Little Lovin, and Claudja Barry - I can upload them in a few days.

I'm not sure if the Claudja Barry track is a long or short version though.

Thanks Mtv! The Linda Clifford track is great, I was suprised to find it extended even further than the original lp mix. I like quite a bit of her stuff - especially all those songs that she talked through - about kicking her man to the curb...

I'd also be interested.

I love disco...as much as I love new wave.

I'd be interested in anything.

Frayo - I'm on the hub most every night (eastern time). Take whatever you want - my name on the hub is the same as it is here. I have a few Giorgio Moroder tracks in there as well.
