I just discovered Original Mirrors after getting the Nouvelle Vague "New Wave" compilation. Their cover of the Supremes "reflections" totally won me over in an instant and I decided to check out their catalog of recordings, in part also because I discovered that Mike Howlett produced their second album, and I love most of his new wave production credits. Conveniently, I scored a copy of Original Mirror's Heartbeat: Best Of CD with both of their complete albums on it, and was shocked after listening to it, because I actually liked their FIRST album MUCH better than their second album, the one produced by Howlett!!!

I have them on CD, so if noone beats me on this, I will post them tonight. This CD was actually released in 1996 titled "Heartbeat: The Best of Original Mirrors". Anyhow it was not really the best of but all the songs from their two records (Original Mirrors and Heart Twango & Raw Beat) were put on this CD. I am not sure if this is available anymore, but it's an awesone record, especially the first 10 songs.

Excellent 1980 debut. Has a member from Deaf School (Steve Allen) and Ian Broudie from Lightning Seeds.

I just got the second album a month ago after never having heard it before. "Dancing with the Rebels" has a good hook, but the rest of it? Meh. There's certainly nothing on the order of "Panic in the Night" or "The Boys The Boys."

Although most of it is better than the "Reflections" cover...

Wasn't fond of the second one either...debut much better.

High point is "Sharp Words" followed by "Night of the Angels".

I have their first album on vinyl, and didn't listen to any tracks until recently. Very impressive "big" sound to them. I like it. Not too pop-ish, and not too rock ish. Never got around to ripping the whole album.
