Tears on Your Anorak

Tears on Your Anorak by The Drivers was a British song that was quite popular here in Canada in 1983. Any one per chance have this one on mp3? I would so love to hear this one again.

I wish I did! My Shortcuts album smashed to little bits of vinyl was what originally lead me to NWO, in search of that perfect song. I haven't heard that song in 20 years!

I am in total agreement about the song being a great one. I have loved that song since it came out (I was in Junior High). I have the 7" as well as the LP. I'm trying to get an article together about the Drivers for a fanzine and have managed to contact the bassist and drummer. The singer/guitarist has been slow with his answers but I am confident he will eventually submit his stuff.
Unfortunately I have no way of transfering my vinyl to CD/mp3. I did notice the other day that the song is featured on a Canadian Best of 1980's dbl CD compilation (the title has slipped my mind). It is a new release and should be easy to find in a chain music store.

OK, here it is, sorry about the lame bitrate.

Long before Nick Van Eede appeared on ITV's "Hit Me Baby One More Time" (I wish I had seen it)...before he formed Grinning Souls...even before Cutting Crew and all that "Died In Your Arms" bullocks, there were The Drivers.

The Drivers put out one full album in 1983 called "Short Cuts", with some success in Canada. "Tears On Your Anorak" is a power-pop gem, and it peaked in Canada at #23 in 1983.

I believe the "anorak" reference is to a jacket with a hood (if you were wondering). I know we all had them back in the day. I know from my time in the UK that an anorak has other meanings, but I don't think they fit the lyrics.

I love this song - how it was allowed to disappear is a mystery to me. I mean, come on, how many songs about anoraks can there be? Please enjoy.
