Long before Nick Van Eede appeared on ITV's "Hit Me Baby One More Time" (I wish I had seen it)...before he formed Grinning Souls...even before Cutting Crew and all that "Died In Your Arms" bullocks, there were The Drivers.
The Drivers put out one full album in 1983 called "Short Cuts", with some success in Canada. "Tears On Your Anorak" is a power-pop gem, and it peaked in Canada at #23 in 1983.
I believe the "anorak" reference is to a jacket with a hood (if you were wondering). I know we all had them back in the day. I know from my time in the UK that an anorak has other meanings, but I don't think they fit the lyrics.
I love this song - how it was allowed to disappear is a mystery to me. I mean, come on, how many songs about anoraks can there be? Please enjoy.
