Tribute to Simon and 'Torchomatic' (kind of)

Some of you may remember Torchomatic, which was a site similiar to this one. It was that site that got me hooked on collecting obscure 80's tunes (I found this one some time later).

There were usually 4-5 songs a week posted, plus a 12"/extended remix. And occasionally, there was an "all request" week, where all the songs were picked out of his list by grateful people like us.

Anyway, all three of these songs came from his site.

First off is "Blast Off!", from Class Action. This is one of my all-time favorite songs, 80's or not. 4 minutes of joy.

Next is "Let Her Go", from Strawberry Switchblade. As far as I know they only made one album. And they followed the mandatory 80's rule of releasing 35 remixes of each single.

Last but not least is a band called Horse, whom I know nothing about. This song is "You Could Be Forgiven" and was apparently a 7" single.

Enjoy!! And thanks to Cee for the Rapidshare suggestion.

Yep, what a great site it was. I was fortunate to purchase the collection shortly before the site disappeared.

Songs I recommend for your next batch are "This Town" by Hey! Elastica, "Time" by The Time Dance and "My Girl and Me" by Gangway. All are fantastic songs.

Thanks for the suggestions; I would consider them for the next go round if I had any of them[:D]

Maybe someone else...?

Cool Madman, thanks. But where's the file? I see a bunch of ads for rapidshare but not the file link.

Yeah, looks like you have to d/l the software before getting access to the files.

Actually, no you don't. On the first page, click "Free" button in the table about half way down the page, then wait a couple of seconds (16 to be exact.) About 2/3 of the way down the page, they will say "You have requested to download blah blah blah.." then a hot link magically appears, allowing you to download.

A bit more work that yousendit, but it works. [8D]

You don't have to download anything.

Just scroll down and click on "Free Download". On the next page, go to the bottom and you'll see a countdown. Once it hits zero, you'll be able to grab the file(s).

Hope that clears that up. I should have explained it earlier; sorry.

Madman, I forgot to do so when I downloaded it, but I wanted to thank you for sharing Horse - "You Could Be Forgiven". It has easily been one of my favorite finds of the last few months. Great, great track, thanks a ton.

The Torchomatic site, tgether with audioparagorn (which still lives but doesn't put up tracks aynmore)were sites I visited at least ones a week to get the latest stuff from the eigthies. most of the tracks featured there were completely new to me, and I loved it.

Before the Torchomatic site went down I ordered four CD-r's with stuff featured on the site in the years of existance. I'm still enjoying them to this day. so a big thank-you anf thumbs up to Simon for introducing me to those rare eighties tracks.

Featured here is a track that's been going through my head for days now. It was original featured on the Torchomatic site way way back (euh just a couple of years ago I guess)when the recordcompanies didn't care that much about the internet. How times have changed since then.

enjoy it.
