My songs to offer

Postby unguarded moment » Sun Nov 20, 2005 10:51 am

I've been wanting to do this for a while and since it's been very popular of late, I'd like to step in and offer some tunes that I think some of you might want to sample. These are songs that are either rare or just some that have slipped through the cracks. I've put up five songs at a time, and will post some more soon. Most of my stuff is of the power pop variety, with most from the late 70's/early 80's. Hope you like 'em. They are:

THE REELS - "Prefab Heart" Aussie band known for their Ska stylings

GIRLS AT OUR BEST! - "Fast Boyfriends" British band, quirky but catchy songs

POINTED STICKS - "Apologies" Canadian band, know very little of them.

THE ACT - "The Art of Deception" Nick Laird-Clowes, who later founded The Dream Academy, fronted this eclectic pop band. This song is very power-poppish.

THE KEYS - "I Don't Wanna Cry" Very obscure Brit band, produced by Joe jackson. Classic power pop!

Great trax there EL!
Just by the sound of all them it was like an audio time slice from the late 70's early 80's. EXCELLENT!
The very reason this place is THE GREATEST and This Genre RULES![^]

Ah Pointed Sticks, a decent band.

They got a record deal with Stiff Records in England. Their best known song is "Out of Luck", a hard-driving pop song which although well-recieved, failed to chart. They then recorded an album which Stiff didn't release for some reason.

In the 90s they released a best-of CD "Part of the Noise" which is very hard to find but worth it if you can.
