The Human League 'Original Mixes'

The Human League 'Original Mixes'

Postby Analogue » Sun Aug 07, 2005 4:23 pm

I came across this news article at remembertheeighties.com. Not only am I looking forward to this release, but I'm curious as to which other artists will be included in this series.

"The Human League are to be the subject of a new catalogue release ’Original Mixes’, a collection of original 12” remixes of all the favourites from the Human League; for the most part these mixes have never been available on CD before in the UK, for example the full unedited versions of The Sound Of The Crowd, Open Your Heart and The Lebanon."

I'd read someting of the same thing, too, but from a different site. The tone of the article implied that this could see the same fate as the Dead Or Alive 12" collection. I surely hope that is not the case with this, though. The HL had some great 12" versions up until the Crash album. Hopefully, all of the lame remixes will be avoided.

This is awesome too. Is there a planned release date?

Here's what I found from www.league-online (this pertains to both the Hysteria and Original Mixes CDs):

Remastered Hysteria

US record Label Caroline have released details of their forthcoming remastered Hysteria CD which is due to be released on September 6th. As well as the full album, several B-sides and 12" mixes that were previously only available on deleted vinyl will be making their CD debut and they include:

'Thirteen' - (from "The Lebanon" 12"), the rather wonderful 'The World Tonight' - (from "Life On Your Own" 12"), 'The Lebanon' - (extended version from "The Lebanon" 12"), 'Life On Your Own' - (extended version from "Life On Your Own" 12") & the much improved extended version 'The Sign' - (taken from the "Louise" 12").

Amazon.co.uk are selling the US import for the bargain price of £13.99 and this remastered CD can be pre-ordered here.

Original Mixes to get UK release!

Amazon.co.uk now have the new Human League compilation 'Original Mixes' listed for pre-order on the Virgin label for the retail price of £11.99. With the catalogue number CDV3011 confirming that it is no longer an exclusive Japanese import, the CD is due to be released on September 26th.
Details of the tracklisting are yet to be revealed.

Mirror Man (extended) and Open Your Heart/Non-Stop (instrumentals) would be nice to have on CD. The Lebanon would be on the remastered Hysteria, what other mixes have not been CD-ized?

"you remind me of gold" instrumental, the original (and better) "i love you too much", and i have a mix of "the sign" (that is more of a dub). oh, and there is an instrumental "lebanon".

Is that remix for "Don't You Want Me" an extended version of the original or the remix that was released in the early 90's? Does anyone know?

i may have ejaculated. oops, yep. i did.

between this and "hysteria" re-issue we have quite a lot of mixes now!
and i assume the "don't you want me" mix is the original extended.

Yay!

Although, I would have preferred to have the dub of I Love You Too Much and the extended version of Fascination, instead of the now ubiquitous Love Action and Hard Times instrumentals.

Nevertheless, a very worthwhile step forward for the Human League. Next step: get the Fascination EP onto disc!

Awesome! This must be the first time Open Your Heart (12" version) appears on CD. Well worth the wait!

Pretty cool we're getting the b-sides on this. Hope they do a good job with remastering the audio. I've heard some really bad quality remixes through the years. By the way, the "Hysteria" remastered cd has great audio, in my opinion.

"you remind me of gold"??? !!!!

::thud::

but waaaah, no "open your heart." wah.

still... "total panic" is fun too.

i grouse a little, because the "hysteria" tracks are repeats from the hysteria reissue, but one's domestic and one's an import, so i understand. and the "crash" titles too. there was prime "fascination e.p." space there. i wonder if they'll ever do that. it's one of THE most requested new wave re-issues, i'm sure.

some more older stuff would have been great. but the b-sides included are stellar. are they the same versions of the caroline "dare" re-issue. soon we shall find out.
