musicmatch vs itunes

Postby noodles » Wed Nov 24, 2004 1:04 am

anybody have any preferences? i don't have an ipod yet and currently use the dell musicmatch for my library but i have some issues with it. does anybody like anything else?

anybody know how to default the setup so tracks stay in track order instead of alphabetical? does itunes do the same thing?

dumb ipod question..how rotatable are the songs? if i put something on and get sick of it, can i take it off or is stuck there forever? can the ipod play mp3's and wav's or is only the apple code that plays (ie do i have to re rip my cd's into itunes or can i just chane folders?)

too many questions today!!

I've tried them all and ended up using iTunes. I like the simplicity of the interface as well as the search/filter facilities. It handles my 80gigs of MP3's very well. I also like the iTunes music store and purchased roughly 50 songs over the last year.

Oh lastly, if your iPod playlist is in track order, that's how it will display in you Pod. I sometimes foreget that I've swapped from alpha to date added to track order and for the longest time, couldn't figure out why the songs were showing up in differe

It's a database motif. It stores all the songs by artist in folders within the iTunes directory. However, your interaction with it is just different views of this database, whether it be by track, alpha, song length, kbps, date added, whatever. You don't
