No, from one of the USA 7-inch singles. I think I had received this as a promo from the Boston Record Pool. It's not something I would have purchased. In the early 80's I did not purchase any records, I got them all for free.
Neil Kelly wrote: Do you have the other version to share?

Sorry No, I only posted that link to the Japanese edit to show the insane price it was fetching, I do not have that 3:42 edit that is unique to that 7 inch vinyl. The only other one I have is the 1991 Japanese CD mini single in 320.

elviscaprice wrote:The fact is that many times the 7" edits are just that, edits from the original tracks, there is nothing special about them, some engineer did them to cut back on radio time. They can be done again. In this case the 7" edit wasn't even used for the promo video. Big deal, there is nothing holy about it, if it's such a big deal, make your own.

I have a Dj friend who used to work on one of Boston's biggest radio stations during the 90's and this was one of the jobs he did while working for them. He would have his intern's that worked under him rip and record just about everything that was in rotation and edit numerous different length versions of songs so they could maximize the variety and number of different songs they could play in any given hour with (customized - extra short versions) of popular songs.

Well, in the process of putting together my own 6-CD Queen anthology, I finally got around to re-creating the U.S. single edit (4:26) of "Radio Ga Ga" back in October 2016, using the Bob Ludwig 2011 remaster and a vinyl transfer on YouTube as a guide. Then, I remembered this forum and how someone had requested it a few years back. So, finally, here it is ...

https://www.sendspace.com/file/q3oy3k
Enjoy (in WAV).

I also re-created edits of "Liar" (a tragic edit, by the way), "It's Late", among others, in the process (in case anyone is interested).

Hello everyone,
very nice reading, I'd like to add one more "hard to find" version of Radio Ga-Ga. This extended dance edit released back in '85 on the Hot Tracks DJ Service. Edit by Loreto Manni.

Radio Ga-Ga (Dance Edit)

P.S. Anyone heard the first version of Radio Ga-Ga? :D

Thanks for these. Any chance of seeing a track list for your Queen set?

These tracks all feature the recent remasters by Bob Ludwig, Adam Ayan, Tim Young, Mike Showell, etc. Certain tracks I have edited, re-created, or presented differently (with count-in/session intros from the masters/instrumentals) from the 2011 deluxe editions, "Deep Cuts" volumes, 2016 "On Air" BBC sessions, etc. I also re-created the "Short Lost Retake" of "Keep Yourself Alive" from the 7" acetate but decided against its use here. Likewise, I re-created the "Dutch Single Version" of "Flick of the Wrist" using the piano intro from the BBC Session but decided against it as well (due to sound differences). I really wanted to include the original single version of "Save Me" but cannot find it anywhere.

I started this anthology way back in 2012 but never got around to completing it. It was originally only going to be 3-4 discs, but I really got in to the band over the past 5 years and have extended it to include more rarities, most singles, and my favorites (including live versions).

Currently, I am working on discs five and six and will post their track lists when I'm done.

Thank you very much! Your work is great, very smooth edit - like it lots :D

I'm also interested in these two: 01 I'm In Love With My Car [Single Version] (3:11) and 03 '39 [Single Version] (3:31) - can you please post them, if possible? Or are they available somewhere?

I'm glad that you like it. :)

Well, I would post your requested single versions, but they are readily available (don't want to break any forum rules).

"I'm In Love With My Car [Single Version]" is available on the 2004 Hollywood Records release of "Greatest Hits ['We Will Rock You' Edition]".
https://www.amazon.com/Greatest-Hits-Wi ... ou+edition

"39 [Single Version]" (which is simply an unmixed, standalone version of the album version) is available on "Deep Cuts - Volume 1".

thank you for clarification! If they are just that - standalone versions - then there's no need for them. I thought they might be in any way different but if not that's OK :D

Well, "I'm In Love With My Car [Single Version]" has an intro (of engine revving sound effects) that is not present on the album version. I prefer it to the album version.

Here is my own reconstruction of the US 7" edit of Radio Ga Ga:

FLAC hosted at Mega (click)

Using a vinyl rip as my guide, I preserved the exact edit timings, including errors (only one of the seams is perfectly on the beat) as well as the sudden drop in volume at the beginning of the fadeout.

The source was the album version from 'The Works' on CD, with the speed corrected slightly for perfect pitch, channels swapped so they're what I think is correct, and lightly remastered to boost the bass and treble to my liking.

The splice points are each crossfaded by a couple milliseconds, mostly matching how it works with actual tape splices. I say mostly because although I am a perfectionist, it's just too much work to take into account the fact that they normally cut the tape at an angle to create the crossfade; depending on tape speed and the angle of the cut, it can result in the transition in one channel happening audibly slightly later than in the other channel. That said, I did not notice such delays on this particular recording.
