I'm an Apple man all the way so of course I have the iPod. 15 GB third generation deal. I picked it up refurbished and it came with a bunch of extras. Portable adaptor, remote control, case, dock, etc. I did buy the iTrip (FM transmitter) which is brilliant for when I'm at a friend's house or car or wherever and want to share my music. It just broadcasts to any FM reciever. Just awesome.

Hey Ollie, that Digisette thing is outrageous. Totally awesome.[8D]

I bought a Sony MP3 compatible discman. It plays MP3 cds as well as regular discs. It cost me under $50. If I drop it I don't lose my music as it's burned to a disc. If the disc gets scratched I buff it out and make a new copy.

Portable HD based players are just too expensive for me. When they get down to the $50-$75 range for the 2gig I'll consider one. Until then I'll stick with my discman.

However, I've always been intrigued with these:

I bought one of these Nike PSA Play 120 mp3 players back in 2000. I used it for my running that I do quite often. It has 64 MB internal memory and I added a 64 MB chip.

I recently bought a 1 GB ipod shuffle and love it. It's everything I've wanted in a portable music player for the past 20 years all wrapped up in one small player -- it is awesome for running.

I still reckon that the Ipod Shuffle was created due to a bet between the designers:

Designer 1: "I know, let's have a long piece of tacky white plastic which doesn't have a display."

Designer 2: "Won't that make it hard to use, and anyway who's going to be stupid enough to buy it?"

Designer 1: "Easy, just slap the Apple logo on and the morons will buy anything. Here, take a dump on this tray. I'll cover it with icing sugar and call it "Apple Christmas Log"."

Designer 2: "Log one on its way!"

I'm also in the minority. iPod - or whatever - for 100 bucks? That's 60-70 dollars too much. This guy here agrees with me as well:

I had a 20 gig ipod, sold it to a friend and bought a 40 gig ipod photo(should of bought the 60 gig because I filled it. I love the thing, just wish it had a fade so it would start the next track so no dead air. I just put it on random and I have the best radio station in the world. Here in SF I have seen ipod night at some bars where u can be dj with your Ipod (mp3 player).
I still have a Rio flash mp3 player.I holds about an hour of music.Look how far we have come. Now I read that they are working on dvd`s that will hold a 800 gigs!! Crazy
I guess you've never carried a discman 15-18 miles on a run. The ipod shuffle is the best. $129 is not a lot of money for an mp3 player that holds 1 GB -- there is a lot to be said for convienience -- I'm willing to pay for that (and for not very much money either).
I agree with XXX, Apple is milking the brand labelling to the max.
Look <a href="http://search.ebay.com/mp3-player-flash_Portable-Audio" target="blank">Here</a> for what you can get for less than $100 on ebay.

I was just catching the end of today's Tour de France stage. How cool is it that some are taking to the iPod with an iMic attached for their interviews?! It's hilarious to see an iPod being stuck up to an athlete's face, like "dude, is there something you want me to listen to??"
