I really enjoyed those WLIR airchecks from Motnow. I recorded this tape of Kroq while vacationing in LA on July 25th, 1982. I thought it might be of interest to this forum.

Reviving and old thread here. Anyone have all the ROTR clips from Riff's blog? I have a few but not all, and the ones he originally posted have been deleted.

For some reason, the latest KROQ mp3 (December 7, 1985) isn't showing up in the list on 4shared. Is there any way to post it at another filesharing site and share the link here?

This mykec guy seems to be a bit of a douchebag. He thinks we all owe him $ or to bow down to him with more files? What a complete poser. He deserves NOTHING. He was late to the game and won't share, unbelievable. He gets NOTHING. If anyone wants more kroq tapes I'll give them out for free at some point and if anyone can give me some of this mikec douchebags files.(just to piss him off of course), feel free to pm me.

I have about 14 tapes. 78-91. But I can get A LOT more. Most of my socal friends recorded kroq growing up and have tapes.

I also have some full love line tapes as well as love line stuff and kroq music from the early 90s and mid 90s.

Well, lunatic84, I'm right witch'ya. MykeC obviously recognizes that what he has produced through his tireless effort holds value for some, and that the sweat equity he has in this collection by working to generate the digital content from the analog source means something to him, and he figures it should probably mean something to others. I never said there was anything intrinsically wrong with holding an audio collection for trade. Everyone does that, and for the most part, it works. Everyone in the trade pool ends up with what they want. And, to be accurate, MykeC said that he *prefers* to trade for more KROQ recordings...not that he will *only* trade for more KROQ. But, with all that said, what we have here is a capture of free airwave transmissions, recorded at the time by others, and digitized by another. The original source material collection actually belongs to those who made their tapes available to MykeC to duplicate them in the digital domain. MykeC's "ownership" (if there really is any to be found outside of what the owners of KROQ can legally claim) is in the mastering work. Fine. To each, his own. Credit where credit is due. But MykeC really can't expect much more than the openly-voiced gratitude of those who would wish to have a copy of it all. If there is a trade that can be done, terrific. Both parties come out of it enriched with new content. But if a suitable trade is not in the offing, but the desire to acquire remains, then I believe there really should be nothing to inhibit making a copy available, no strings attached. Like I said earlier, if there is a concern for the ongoing integrity and identity of the collection, then there can be a gentleman's agreement that the copy provided not be disseminated any further. I have no problem with the holder of the digital collection reserving the right to control the manner and/or extent of the distribution of it. I just don't believe that it should be distributed ONLY if something of value is given in return. And again, I say, that MykeC says he only *prefers* to do it that way. So I'm hopeful that I can convince him to share a copy of the collection with me for the price of a DVD-R and postage.

Nice stuff. Thanks. I used to have a lot of recorded radio: KBCO out of Boulder, KTCL of Ft. Collins, and KKFM Colorado Springs (before they went "format.") Unfortunately, those tapes are long lost.

I remember a KBCO tape I made in 1985 that had "What Do All The People Know" by the Monroes. I loved the song and played it to friends, but no one knew who it was. I think I finally found out in the late 90s.

Was just wondering if anyone knew whatever happened to the series "Songs that KROQ forgot", or something similar to this title. I saw a thread about it a while ago on the outpost, but haven't been able to find anything on the net. Looking on soulseek right now I see volumes 1 - 4 with song titles and no artist information. I think there were about 15 - 20 volumes all together. Anyone know anything about this series?

Listening to these old KROQ shows really took me back. I was an avid listener of KROQ from around 1982-1983 until the mid 90's, at which point I lost interest as their playlists (for the most part) turned horrid.

I moved across the country a few years ago and find the radio stations here absolutely terrible. I wish that we had something that resembled KROQ, even in its current form.

Hello all. I have enjoyed very much the KROQ stuff posted here. I am a bit too young to get too excited about the early 80s stuff, but still fun. I have some stuff recorded from 1990-91 or so that I'll post on here to share with people- I don't know if that's too late in the day for people, who knows.

Here is a show from 1990 sometime, early 1990- no music, instead it's a "radio play" done by Kevin & Bean and some other KROQ dj's: "Kevin & Bean and the Jetsons in Outer Space". There was a Jetsons animated movie released at the time; this was part of the publicity. There was a contest of some sort and KROQ listeners played the parts of Judy Jetson and some other characters. It's certainly ridiculous, but I enjoyed it then and now! I believe this was K&B's first year with KROQ. Hope you all enjoy. I will post some more stuff soon if anyone is interested.
