I was wondering: Did anyone finally identified this song that was posted here a couple of years ago ?

FarFetch.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71e_R5nR7FU

Lyrics are:
Talking to a blue sky
Thinking on a roof top
Listen to my heart go, "Don't go, don't go"
Listen to my mind go

Stay the second time around
Won't you please stay the second time around
Darling, won't you please stay the second time around
Oh, won't you stay the second time around

Sorry, guys. Fixed a post which had embed code wasn't properly closed and it was redirecting like a rogue script or something. Maybe we need to start a Twitter campaign -- something that could go viral. No luck with YouTube yet.

Just sent asking if this is "Around" by Face to the only seller at Discogs and another person who owns and rated this release also at Discogs.

Interesting update!!

This thread was posted in YouTube at:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71e_R5nR7FU

And one user suggested the song "Around" by a group called "Face", found here in Discogs:
http://www.discogs.com/Face-Around/release/2458261

It fits the year and genre of music...so I checked on GEMM:
http://www.gemm.com/store/RUNECOSMIC/item/FACE-AROUND-NEW-LOVE-7-/1451444164

And someone is selling it for $360 ... for a 7" record??? Could this be the record we've been trying to track down ALL these years!??!?!

crichert Posted - 10/18/2012 : 20:58:13
Sadly, I find myself humming this tune periodically, and it drives me CRAZY that nobody can find the artist/song anywhere. :(

Also this is not '' Frode Wassvick''

still unknown??? i don't believe!!!!! somebody know it but don't want to tell to others....

I was messing around with the clip remixing it a bit. The more I listen to it the more it reminds me of Fashion even though I know it's not them.

We don't know for sure if it's even called Stay The Second Time Around or anything like that.

Well yeah there someone in the world that knows what it is .. the people that recorded it but until they become members of NWO they ain't likely to tell us.

The Damned?? I don't think so.

Wow, this thread is epic. I tried some searches as well and came up snake eyes. At first I though the voice reminded me of some old stuff from The Damned, but I couldn't find anything to match.

I can be 99.9% sure this ISN'T a song by Camouflage. The voice is very distinct from lead singer Marcus Meyne's and I am pretty familiar with their early works. I don't even think the singer is German. He sounds English to me. His baritone reminds me a lot of Brian Atherton of Box Of Toys (although it's not). It's a shame this still goes unanswered after all this time. It sounds like a great song.
bugmenot Posted - 02/08/2012 : 15:00:25
Did Camouflage ever responded?

It's certainly New Wave Outpost's version of a loooooong viral phenomenon! I'm surprised the artist or band member hasn't happened upon this from a stray Google search at this point.

Sean Posted - 12/27/2011 : 20:55:31
I was hoping this would have been solved by now. I wonder if this band knows that so many people are trying to figure out who does this song. That little snippet still sounds really cool after all these years. I was hoping some band would try to cover it and maybe then the band will finally come out from their shell.

"Hello! A friend of mine knows this song! He toured Germany in the fall of 1986 and this was on the radio! I realize you have been searching for it for a long time so I thought I would come here to share what he says. He doesn't think it is by Modern Vision as many think. He thinks the band was called something like 'Kero's Final Stand' or 'Last Stand' or something similar (although I cannot find ANYTHING about a band with that name online, nor was there an official release.) find a full version!"

Hi

I can't offer anything new sadly other than to bump this topic and add my theory.

I think this was recorded, the production sounds a lot better than demo quality. I also think this was only released on vinyl and possibly in limited quantities. I am thinking about a few other songs that took ages to solve, namely "the wedding song" by good shepherds and "the wishing tree" by charlie's brother. Both records were on a small record label and had obviously a limited distribution.

I think people just have to keep checking recordstrack etc until something new appears.
synthman78 Posted - 09/14/2010 : 08:45:02
I checked out the Frode Wassvik tune.... not the one.....

To me it almost sounds like Piotr from Machine Age on vocals, but obviously its not him, as its not the right era.
And sometimes I wonder how the artist who did this song can still be unaware that so many people are searching for this tune.
Ah well, the quest continues.

This is just a thought..
With all the digitized music content presently out there in cyberspace, would it be possible to use some audio analysis algorythm/app along the lines of what Pandora/ iTunes uses to find a possible matching vocal/synth pattern/profile to an existing recording artist? Perhaps someone with ties to those services would like to take this on as a pet project? Even someone with ties to the field of Audio Forensics might help. http://www.audioforensics.com/index.htm

I registered a few weeks ago but it seems impossible to listen to the song. It seems like it might actually be a request for the song (there is an upload link, but not a download link), and not actually the song, but I could be wrong. I sent a message and the youtube link to the person who posted it asking for their help but haven't gotten a response.

daydreamer Posted - 06/21/2010 : 01:14:51
Awwww. GT strikes again.

Let me translate this into proper English:

"A fellow professional musician (both composer and recording studio boss) told me that because of certain characteristic "shortcomings", this could in no way be an ordinary (final) production, and in fact be an early recording by the German new wave band "Camouflage" [1], winner of a competition presented by a German radio station with their song contribution from one of their demo tapes.
Most probably the song the whole world has been hunting for all those years *IS* exactly this contributed song on their demo tape, whose title is not known to me to this day, though."

[1][known for "The Great Commandment", 1987, and "Love Is A Shield"]
crichert Posted - 06/19/2010 : 12:37:40
There's no way this is Camouflage, it sounds nothing like them.

Panorama Posted - 06/19/2010 : 04:56:41
I received the following comment on the song from a person called Terascon on youtube:

So I went to Google translation http://translate.google.com and here is what the message translates as:
"A friend and professional musician (composer and recording studio owner) said that the opening could be because of certain deficiencies not a normal production, and it would act may be an early marketing of the German new wave group "Camouflage". These ranged in fact in 1986 the song contest of a German radio station a demo tape and won the first prize. It is probably looking at this song demo recording, whose title I do not know exist."

Hmm, now this one seems very, very likely.

Released between 1984 and 1986? Check.
Practically unknown? Check.
From an European country? Check.
Sung in English? Check.
Pop/Rock? Check.

Unfortunately it's impossible to find a copy on sale anywhere.
