Two original albums by DOLLAR will be out on CD in February, each with six bonus tracks. Especially the first LP has interesting bonus tracks produced by Trevor Horn: Hand Held In Black And White (Alternative Trevor Horn 1981 Mix) Mirror Mirror (Alternative Trevor Horn 1981 Mix) Give Me Back My Heart (Alternative Trevor Horn 1981 Mix, AKA The Video Version) Videotheque (Alternative Trevor Horn 1982 Mix) Guessing Games (Alternative Mix) I Got Your Number Wrong (Alternative Mix)

| very cool indeed. They had some pretty good new wave sounding stuff amongst their more europop stuff. |

I received both DOLLAR albums The Paris Collection (1980) and The Dollar Album (1982) last week and I must admit that I still like them.
In comparison The Dollar Album is clearly the better album. Reason for this is mainly Trevor Horn who produced the best tracks of this album and also wrote/co-wrote them (co-writer is Bruce Woolley). And alternate versions of these songs are included as (previously unreleased) bonus tracks, too. Trevor Horns phenomenal production makes this album a brilliant collection of pure pop music. As we speak of a pop album produced in 1981/82, the strong influence of early 80s new wave music is ever-present which btw also qualifies these albums to be discussed in this forum IMO.
In contrast to these boring mid/late-80s SAW productions. Just wanted to be a bit provoking |

| The Dollar Album is definitely the winner. Trevor Horn's production on the four singles clearly stands out and makes this album a must for any 80s fan. |

What do they sound like?
Would someone mind posting a few sample tracks from these guys?

| I have both cds as well. The Dollar Album clearly stands out because of Trevor Horn's superb production. I wonder if a complete anthology exists on cd that contains the last few singles like We Walked in Love? |

Nope, that song is not on CD. No complete singles collection since Dollar were on different labels. /JW http://www.discog.info/dollar.html
That's what i thought as well. We Walked In Love was one of their best singles. |

Hiya -
There are talks ongoing between a UK label; Dollar's UK representative Alan Connor; Warners and the other labels involved (i.e. Arista) for a full Dollar Greatest Hits at some point in 2012. For the first tme this would include all of the Carrere, WEA and Arista singles on one release. Watch this space - will update you as I find out more. There are also plans to release the first Dollar 'Shooting Stars' album as a stand-alone CD around the same time!
Cheers - Steve Thorpe |

Thanks Steve, about time :)
You may create a new topic for that CD, if you want.

| I hope they could squeeze in some 12" mixes as well if there's enough space on one cd. |

They are under rated as a band.
They could do with a comprehensive best of. |
