I'm surprised that there's blank cassette collectors out there.
You should see how much those TDK MA-R C-90s sell for.

Asking price is 75GBP.
Damn, this is the same era as the MA-R C90 that I bought. Too bad mine is used. If you don't know this cassette, this was the shit! The chassis/frame itself is metal, with two plastic flat pieces on either side.

There's a few websites devoted to blank cassettes, with this being one of them: http://vintagecassettes.com/

The TDK MAR-C90's were about $20.00 each in 1981. I have two and they still hold up today as far as audio playback is concerned.

I bought my MA-R around 1986, and I think I paid around $20 for it.

The auction I posted above ... the dude sold both for 65GBP each :o .

I still have my cassette deck set up. It's a Pioneer dual deck from around 1996. Dolby S!

Deck one is hosed, though. It was making some kind of mechanical noise when playing forward, so I started fiddling around with the screws on the tape head, and ... oops ... unscrewed it too much. I just need to remove the front plastic, in order to have access to the screw to screw it back in, but too lazy to do it. Deck two still works fine, and it's not like I'll be duping tapes anytime soon  , and it's not like I listen to tapes more than a handful of times a year (if that).

Still have my cassette deck (Yamaha) but haven't used it in years--a direct result of not having a cassette deck in the car, I suppose. I know all the limitations of tapes, and so many of my pre-recorded tapes sound terrible now (though the blank tapes I recorded on still sound surprisingly decent..TDK or maxell). But I still keep them, in those cheesy little cassette tape suit cases.

Actually when I think back on all my life's listening experiences, I don't think I've ever been as happy as listening to a mix tape I'd made of recent records I'd bought back in the 80s. Trying to hit 'record' just as the song started was fun. Well made mix tapes were an accomplishment to be proud of. A drag and drop iTunes playlist will never be as satisfying.

Still, I can't imagine collecting cassettes now the way I still do vinyl.

I've rekindled my interest in Cassette due the pandemic. I managed to get my Nakamichi and Two Tascam Decks fixed. Now I have 3 working decks as well as several walkmans in working condition. Been listening a lot to my old mixed tapes. All of them were recorded in good blank tapes (mostly Chrome and Metal) from Sony/Nakamichi/TDK/Maxell/Denon.
