Bands Reunited: What Happened?

Postby Clint O » Sat Apr 09, 2005 6:33 am

I thought VH1 was onto a really cool thing trying to reunite bands from the late 70s-80s, and then they completely put a chokehold on new episodes. It took me many months for my TiVo to finally find the A Flock of Seagulls episode. So, what's up with these VH1 guys anyway?

Too busy showing us Flava Flav trying to hump Brigette Neilsen? You'd think he'd have better taste than that.

Maybe the fact that the show was sort of a sham with regard to the genuine nature of the re-uniting. See the thread here on the Information Society show.

If it's "all about the music" then why not simplify things and keep doing what they did with Duran Duran? - a live concert with interviews. They could do the Pixies, Gang of Four, DB's... These are truly bands reunited.

Wow, thanks for the link. I was wondering if some of the band members felt exploited on that show. It guess that was the case.

I miss this show too, the possibilities are endless. A few episodes that I caught were pretty damn cool, like the English Beat & the Alarm. Gotta wonder though, when would it degenerate into those 80s hair metal bands like Extreme & Stryper? Although seei
