Secession

I've loved this band since the first time I heard their great single Touch, way back in the day. There is so little information on this awesome, mid-era New Wave outfit anywhere on the web. Even the usually enlightening Trouser Press has zero info on them.

Here's what I know:

They were together from around '83-'87, from Scotland, released only singles until '87's A Dark Enchantment, were briefly with Beggar's Banquet then Siren (even these label's websites have no info), and I believe I read on this very site that the band's singer sadly died sometime in the 90s.

If anybody has any other info, a bio page, website...anything, please let me know either on this thread of here: dearlybelovedx3@hotmail.com

thanks!

The only info I was ever able to find (and help contribute to) on the net was their discography, which was located here: http://129.82.172.172/secsdisc.htm but it has now been removed. Here's their discography, if you're interested:

And a cd compilation with all of their extended versions would be mindblowing. [;)]

Thanks to you both. Yeah Sean, A discography or box set would be amazing. I've heard talk here and there of this being in the works, but who knows?

I've (rarely) seen bootlegs on eBay with a bunch of remixes and B-Sides. I'll have to check at home, because many years ago someone made me a cd of all the band's B-Sides and remixes and some extended mixes. I sure hope I still have that...

Amazing group, have everything by them. The rarest single is Betrayal. Got a copy on Ebay a while back for $$$$, but well worth it for a huge Secession fan and completionist.

Hi Gil,

How does that Betrayal song sound? I don't think I've heard it. Does it compare to Touch and the other singles?

IMO, Betrayal is their best song. Very dark, very lo-fi, with gothic organ/synthesizers during the second half. The B-side to the Betrayal 7", Reflections, is also good (and is a different song from 'Reflections', the B-Side to Sneakyville).

Goutroy hit it with the Betrayal description, its gothy, darky, synthy..and great! I will be happy to trade if any of you need it. I prefer CDR trading. Just email me, no problem.
