I just remembered a few more that were great, I always LOVED Waiting For The Nightboat, and that B side Khanada.

So many great songs, why is it that from 1979 to 1984 they wrote awesome music, every attempt since then doesn't measure up, (not that I don't like the 90s stuff)but face it, there's NO comparison, agree? disagree?

I love the DD guys, but after Seven and the Ragged Tiger, I fell away from them. Their sound changed, 2 Taylors left (and eventually, in '97, battling drug addiction, so did the 3rd, John), and they just didn't have that quirkiness and awesome layered sound that I loved. We've had numerous debates on this board regarding our old NW faves who've changed their sound along the way, and whether that's good or not--but forme, they lost their magic. "Ordinary World" and "Come Undone" were amazing surprises, along with a handful of other good material, but to me, they'd lost their focus. I simply wasn't into their material any longer. The guys reuniting 2-3 years ago was awesome, and their recent 2 tours showed the old chemistry. (Especially the "78-03" Reunion tour, where they played like 95 % old material). the guys can still groove--"Sunrise" is a swell song, and I support their latest efforts. But IMHO, nothing beats their defining New Romantic and dance-glam/synthpop days. That was what they were made for, and were the strongest at.[:)]

Well, maybe "quirky" isn't the right word, but after their 1st album (which I dearly, dearly LOVE as my fave, but which many regard as a Japan-ripoff), their 2nd & 3rd albums sounded like nothing else out there. So maybe "fresh" is more what I meant. C'mon--what else sounded anything like "Rio", "New Religion", or "Union of the Snake" ?!?

Electric Barbarella is a nice post 'Taylor's Three' track.

I also like the 'official DD megamix' - "Burning the Ground"

I agree with above.. cant go past the early sound, but do really like their re-formed efforts. The Taylor-less days were very wish-washy to say the least. 'Serious' is a great track mind (and I also agree with Ord. World and Come Undone, Notorious and Elec Barb.).

It seems all of D's early material was "whole album" stuff.. i.e.. you can easily listen to the whole lot without wanting to poke a sharp stick in your eye. The Warran days produced the very good (above) and the very bad, with no inbetween (IMO).

"Sound of Thunder" is my favorite song of theirs; that and "Faster Than Light".

All I can think about is "When are we leaving?",
Everytime I think of you I want a cigarette,
Man chooses himself, hero with a thousand faces,
It's the third night and the walls are shaking"--Tuxedomoon, "Desire"</font>

I finally purchased the 3 CD box of remastered rereleases of the first three albums. I never got them on CD before so this should be a great listen.

Does anyone know when (or if) there is a plan to remaster Notorious?
