We'll (yes, the royal "we" [:)]) will pass it this time....

The quintessential Roxy ambient track however would be South Downs the B-side of "Oh Yeah". a super song.

dang, rotator, that (Pearl ) is a great record ! It's been years since I've listened to Budd & Eno. I went thru a serious Harold Budd stage in college (loved his work with the Cocteau Twins), and searched assiduously for as many cassettes as I could find. Sigh...this brings back the memories. Thanks man--I'm off to go "re"-search for more Budd.

if you like 'The Pearl' you may like 'Eno & Budds 'Ambient II: The Plateaux Of Mirror', it is essentially the same sonic mode they used on 'The Pearl' (it's difficult to tell which track is from which album when mixed up).

possibly even a little sparser, as Daniel Lanois is not on 'Ambient II' and it was recorded in 1980...

^^^super^^^I need to haul out 'The Moon & The Melodies' again....

OK --- keeping with my 'all things ENO' obsession right now, here is essitially an 6 minute edit of the hour long piece 'Thursday Afternoon' ...Here is a little bit of history about this song I learned along the way...
.. this was a song Eno considered 'Holographic' -- any of it's parts could be listened to at any point of the song, yet it would still represent the totality of the song. Apparently there is a video for the song (or ther othe way around) which Is a single slow motion shot of a nude woman turning...I need to get this on DVD.
Lastly, it was released in 1985 (I think) and was Enos first product to be released on CD, so obviously he took advantage of the format and created this piece that could never fit on an LP side...

you really need to listen to the entire thing in one sitting. You will feel better after you do. [:)]

Apparently, from the liner notes of 'Navigation; OMD B-Sides' '66 & Fading' was the results of the chords from 'Genetic Engineering' played in reverse and slowed down....
also, oddly, the 7" version is much longer than the 12" version....go figure...

well ... a few seconds ( less than 15 , iirc ) really isn't what i would call "much longer" or an "extended version" ! [;)]

however ... the tape for the 12" master was simply played back a bit too slow ( again [:D] ) , so that's where the time difference comes from ! [;)]

btw : the version on the "navigation" compilation-album was cut short to less than half of the tune sadly ! *sigh*

anyway ... i jus' love that lil' ditty ! [:)]

... & for today ...
