Poll: Top 5 Albums & Songs of the 2000s?

Postby Frau_Blucher » Sat Apr 02, 2005 12:45 am

In a New Wave vein of course. What are your thoughts? In no particular order. I'll compile the results. I point for each top 5 and 1/2 point for honorable mentions up to 2 more. I'll start:

Top Albums:
The Hour of Bewilderbeast – Badly Drawn Boy
Turn on the Bright Lights - Interpol
The Dresden Dolls – The Dresden Dolls
The Decline of British Sea Power – British Sea Power
Franz Ferdinand – Franz Ferdinand
Honorable Mention:
Logic Will Break Your Heart – The Stills
Machina/The Machines of God – The Smashking Pumpkins

Top Songs:
All These Things I’ve Done – The Killers
Untitled – Interpol
It Ended on an Oily Stage – British Sea Power
Turn My Way – New Order
Mary – Scissor Sisters
Hororable Mention:
Thinking of a Dream I Had – The Walkmen
Gravity Rides Everything – Modest Mouse

There's must be dozens I'm forgetting, and I reserve the right to change my opinion every other minute.

Well this has been a rousing success. Here's the tally so far: Music Lovers - 0, Inane Controversey Hounds - 1000. [V]

Does anybody care or have an opinion on some of the really good new wave-influenced music that is actually out there right now???

I'd gone through all that too 2Nu but am realizing there are some real gems out there that are clearly post-punk/new wave inspired. I'm so often traveling that I can rarely be on the hub anymore. I'll try to post a sampler on my own storage.

Better yet

Sorry, these aren't all in a new wave vein (there's so much hybrid stuff out there with numerous influences), so I'll have to shoot for 20-25...

Top 20 Albums:
1) Coldplay - A Rush of Blood to the Head
2) Keane - Hopes and Fears
3) Badly Drawn Boy -

Hey Blir, if you still want to trade a CD of bands from the 2000s, I'm game. Lots of good stuff exists out there, but like always, you gotta dig for it. I'd recommend the A Frames, Epoxies, Briefs, Radar Secert Service, the Exploding Hearts, & Smogtown to

the most interesting new wave/new romantic influenced music of the past several years has been done by a brit named John B. he recently did a great remix of howard jones's "revolution of the heart". his new album in transit is great, as is his last album
