Craving to be posting on this subject, cause there's a stone laying upon my breast on...the worst thing about the 80's.

How explosive the late 70's and beginning of the 80's were, so implosive and bad were the later 80's.

Bands like Cabaret Voltaire ('85), PIL ('85), DEVO ('84). DAF ('83), Heaven 17 ('83/'84), Human League ('83/'84) to name a few, got completely lost in their musicmaking. Why did they lost it, is the big question ever since. It's like a stone rain has stopped their feeling for making good music.

I remember going to a concert at the Paramount, January or February 1981, when I was in 9th grade:

Loverboy opened for the Heats!!! Loverboy goes on to fame and fortune, Heats--not so much. Life is not fair.

Mullets. [/b]

"With apologies to those of you in the Deep South and Riverside, CA where these are still considered the latest style".

Why thank you ! I just love those self-righteous condescending expert comments on the Deep South. I've seen my share of mullets in Michigan,Texas,Ohio,Maryland,Illinois, and Virginia.I live in the Deep South and have seen maybe one dude like that 3 years ago.

By any chance have you EVER lived down here ? Most Northerners down here like it or hate it. For those that hate it and constantly bitch I simply tell them "Delta is ready when you are " .

Sorry, had to vent, the proclaimed Southern experts gets really really old.

The worst thing about the 80's was that TV show with the song that went "Fandabidosy fandabidosy fandabidosy......."! It wasn't a kid singing it, it was actually a 42 year old midget, the presenters wife!

My all-time never-should-have-been-favorite from the 80s is:

Modern Talking!

1000 hits with only 3 chords, 2 men without a brain and a so called "mastermind" named Dieter Bohlen who still keeps annoying German TV audiences with shows like "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" (Germany's looking for the Superstar)..

Jeans with zippers on the legs-Worst. Idea. Ever.
You couldn't sit in them without having the zipper dig into your leg. They hurt like hell and I still wore them.
Apparently, some high-end designers tried bringing them back this fall and since I haven't seen any of the Olsen Twins/Paris Hilton/Lindsey Lohan crowd wearing them, I guess the trend bombed this time around.

Either that or Paris Hilton is smarter than me.

How about parachute pants? The damn things didn't breath, but that didn't stop my dumb ass from wearing them. How did we ever think that shit looked cool? Ug.

Remember those black pants that had a thin line of teal up the leg? I remember those being hugely popular for one summer around 81 or 82. I think they were a kind of men's gym pants or something...

I can't imagine wearing Teal now...especially outside!

Wretched Simmonds. Definitely the worst thing to come out of the 80's. Funny how he still looks pretty much the same only "crinklier".

Is it just my imagination, or are Richard Simmons and Leo Sayer the same guy?
