OMD and the 1980's

Postby Kookaburra Dung » Wed Oct 08, 2003 4:40 pm

There are so many songs from the 1980's that are great, and would be impossible for one to narrow them all down to 10 (although, it's fun to try). I would have to say that one of my all-time favorite 80's tunes would have to be "If You Leave" by OMD. I love the keyboard, the vocals, the lyrics, the image that the song sets in my mind every time I hear it, everything about it.

What are some favorites by other posters here?

Oh, by the way, this is my first post. It's cool that there is an 80's message board on the internet.

Nowhere Girl IS an alltime classic isn't it?! It popped up on random play on my iPod today and I just couldn't get over how thoroughly fleshed out that song is...great subject matter, great piano and guitar layering. I can't help but wonder why B-Movie wa

Thank you Kookaburra Dung for posting a tid bit on one of the finest electronic, new wave bands to grace our eardrums. The atmosphere of some of their more mild tunes still touch me in the most powerful ways. They are true epic songs. Namely: "Stanlow

Hi guys. Nice Forum! :-)
Good to see some of you mentioning OMD as, for me, they tend to be one of the most overlooked bands of the 80's. Their early LP's capture the essence of 80's Synth and 'Architecture & Morality' ought to be an essential part of an
