New Order, Irvine Meadows, 1989

Mention of this concert is particularly heartbreaking to me as I had tickets to it but couldn't go. I wouldn't see them again until May of 2005! Predictably, a girl got in the way, a particularly wild and crazy one who I decided to chase after at some club rather than go to this epic event. Stupid, stupid, stupid! Well knock me over with a feather when I find this concert posted on the 'net! [:p]

Blir... how could you!!! New Order always comes first! Hehe...
Now really I get that of problems around seeing New Order.
I bought the ticket with a now ex-friend... the thing was that he was dating a very close friend of mine and they broke up before the concert. This meant no problem at the beginning coss we were going to see No. anyway in spite of the break-up fact since at first I was all alright with me being friends of both of them and only he was going to the show. But then my friend decides to come to the concert...so we ended up the three of us in a kind of weird situation at the concert. Plus, add the fact that my ex bf was there too and this ex friend of mine hates him.

I caught the Seattle show on the 1989 tour. For a band with such dark beginnings, the show was amazingly "up" in mood and energy. Of course, they were supporting "Technique", which I think is where their album output hit a real high point. I also remember being impressed with how Bernard's unique brand of guitar playing fit the band so well...hadn't realized that he did all the guitar parts until I saw them live.

Haven't seen other tours, but can definitely say the band was in top form that time out!
