Will be at the NYC show. Did the Gold package thing with the soundcheck and such. Didn't go the VIP route with the meet-n-greet.

Looking forward to hear what people think of the US gigs. I'll be seeing them live here in Denmark in June after a 17 year break. Can't wait!

Don't know if I'll be able to drag shwenko to the opening act. I like this one:

Great show last night. I did manage to get the lovely and talented schwenko to watch the opening act. Here's the set list for last night:

OMD in Toronto: Opening night of the North American tour.

I really, really liked it. Very few reservations. And the guys seemed so pleased at how well it played to the crowd. Andy looked great, Paul sang like a dream (more leads next time, Paul!). Best of all, they're already talking about the next tour. Don't you love that kind of enthusiasm?

I wrote a little review. Spoiler alert, if you're avoiding setlists.

Great to meet up with WWUI82 and Tess, Miroslav and crew! TGY- I mailed you but...?

When OMD was great they were AMAZING GREAT!!!!! And when they played the B-level songs (If You Leave, So In Love, Dreaming etc) they were still pretty good. Totllay agree with TGY; the drums were much too boom/crash for my taste.

The History of Modern 1 was great!

I kept waiting for Andy to fall off stage the entire show while he was channeling Iggy, Ian etc.

Incredible to hear Messages, Tesla Girls, Locomotion, Enola Gay, Joan of Arc/Maid of Orleans, Souvenir topped off by the encore closer Electricity, which I declare to be the most perfect synthpop song ever!!!

Go see them- before Andy breaks his neck

Looking forward to NYC tomorrow night.

Mea culpa, Michael! I'll fix my settings to my now-preferred e-mail.

Mal's drum mix is really all they need address from a sound perspective. As I wrote on my Wordpress, they're hardly performance-rusty, and the arrangements hold up great in 2011's synth-friendly world.

But once again, what really struck me was Andy's voice and the whole gang's enthusiasm. Those songs aren't built to be sung by the Leonard Cohens or the Ric Ocaseks, and I felt rather uplifted throughout the show. Ideally, they'd reconfigure future setlists to strike a more creative flow, but I think we North Americans know why they're here and we'll give the singles the leather-lunged salute they deserve.

Where were you, schwenko? I was about eight rows back, opposite Andy. (And wasn't that freak snow shower something?)
