Another rousing gig by TJF at The Met in Pawtucket's Hope Artiste Village. Nifty venue. Great surprise opener of The Dears. TJF incredible as always. Go see this band for fuck's sakes! On to Johnny Brenda's...

Caught TJF last night at a 3/4 full Brighton Music Hall. Can't say much more than what Frau and others have said, just a fantastic live act. I also like seeing the drummer set to the side of the stage, it involves him in the show more.
One negative was the sound mix. At best I'd say it was only fair.

A sold out Johnny Brenda's in Philly. Packed and sweatu...yet not a completely mental crowd. Freakin kids these days...posers. Great set again, perhaps my last in awhile, what with a west coast British Sea Power swing I must do. Interesting room. Not great acoustics with all the overhangs and squarish shape. Still impressed the newcomers. Lots of great 80s music on the PAs leading up to the gig - The Clash, Pixies, English Beat, etc.

Kind of a neat view point from Tuesdays show.

Phoenix, Arizona, a packed Rhythm Room

Another amazing show, from my new favorite live act, they just btore it up. Chatting with folks before the show who had never seen them and after and they were blown away. They pack so much power into a three piece it is simply amazing. Side Stage front row perspective was really cool.

Of special note, when you go see a band you are really looking forward to seeing and the opening act you have never heard of just kills it, it just makes the evening more special.

The Lonely Forest was outstanding, their entire set was worthy and I enjoyed every song. From Anacortes, WA this video doesn't do justice to how good these guys were live. I thought the audience was going to get them to do an encore, everyone was into it which you don't see too often for an opener.

There is a quorum building for the tour finale at Webster Hall Friday night. By last count I show at least 4 others going. With that, I cannot pass it up either. Any other takers? Tour-ending gigs tend to be a freakin blast!

A final epic night of TJF and a fitting tour ender. Elaborate stage with cats and birdcages, a la their new Whirring video...

<img src="http://blir.smugmug.com/photos/i-GGp622z/0/X3/i-GGp622z-X3.jpg">

Lots of cats in fact...

<img src="http://blir.smugmug.com/photos/i-J6wj6gZ/0/X3/i-J6wj6gZ-X3.jpg">

And big mofo one that slowly blew up...

<img src="http://blir.smugmug.com/photos/i-7CfvVkF/0/X3/i-7CfvVkF-X3.jpg">

Much fun with the giant gong. Thanks to Danny for one of the cats - odd stares on the train but not a word out of the typically stoic New Yorkers. Thanks also to the rest of the band and roadies, Neak, Johnny, Joel, Rhyd, Ritz and Matt for an incredible 6 weeks. Now what the fuck do I do with myself??

Oh, and thanks for the impromptu mini-NWO reunion beforehand with Schwenko, Skinnytie, Abacab66, etc. [:p]

Have to say that they are growing on me. Enjoyed the gig last night- meeting up with both old and new blood.
Listened to "A Balloon Called Moaning" tonight and I can start to actually recognize songs that they play in concert. Have to say that "Cradle" and "The Greatest Light is the Greatest Shade" are quite hummable.
And I pulled out my "The Big Roar" boxset and see that there is a dvd included of the Mercury Lounge gig that Frau, Karen and myself attended last year!
