Just happened to walk by a bulletin board and saw a flyer for a Furs show at a small club in NC this coming Saturday. I was sort of shocked--had no idea they were still doing shows. What the hell, I'm going!

They've been touring a lot the last several years. No new material though in 20 years. In my mind, the worst kind of nostalgia shilling there is, attracting brain-dead suburbanites who haven't bothered to pay attention to music in general for just as long. Blech! [:(]

Hey, I resemble that comment. [;)]

I saw them about 18 months ago, I thought they sounded great.

Cool. I quipped to a friend that the band may be just sidemen with one or two original members. He said, "Who cares. Let's go for the experience." I never saw the Furs back in the 80s so I'm looking forward to it, even if the band is just the ghost of its former self. I'm still kicking myself for not seeing Devo in Asheville last year.

I've seen The Psychedelic Furs twice in the past two years and I'll be seeing them again tomorrow night here in Atlanta.

The current lineup is not half bad. Richard Butler and Tim Butler from the original lineup, Mars Williams and Paul Garisto (both of whom played on Midnight To Midnight), Amanda Kramer, and Rich Good. Saxophonist Mars Williams commands almost as much attention as Richard Butler and they all seemed to be having a good time at the shows that I've seen.

It'll be fun to hear them play Talk Talk Talk in its entirety.

wish I were going . . . nothing wrong with nostalgia.

Some US promoter should gather about 5-6 of these bands that are still chugging (english beat, devo, maybe echo) and put on a few mini festivals a year. Have the bands fly in, do short sets, and leave. They'd make tons off merchandise.

Everyone agreed the show was good. The band sounded flawless and played at the perfect volume. Butler seemed to be having a good time. They didn't play "Ghost in You," but I forgive them. Two funny things:

* Nobody at the show was under 30. Most seemed in their mid-40s.
* They started at 8pm on the dot and finished the entire show at 9:50pm!!!

The Atlanta show was excellent. The band played two sets with a short break in between.

First Set: Talk Talk Talk (the full album)

Second Set: "Sister Europe", "Love My Way", "Heartbeat", "President Gas", "Highwire Days", "Heaven", "Heartbreak Beat"

Encore: "My Time", "Forever Now"

When I saw them in Syracuse on 7/15 they played the same setlist as the Atlanta show. Totally smokin' performance! Best show I've seen in years. (And best show I've seen all summer--and I've seen lots of bands this summer!) The venue was a small former movie theater with the seats removed--very intimate. We were ten feet from the stage! Richard really appeared to be having a good time, dancing around and smiling and letting people get good shots with their camera phones. Tim, too, was hamming it up and playing with the crowd. Mars on saxophone was incredible! 30 minutes after the show Richard was hanging out the bus window waving goodbye to me and a couple others standing on the street! Awesome! Glad I snagged a concert poster from the sound booth at show's end.

Yikes!
Arizona show at the Talking Stick Casino, tickets $52.75-$84.25 with most at $57 each. Seriously?
Highly disappointing

What's up with that price? $25.00 for the Boston show with the Tom Tom club opening.
