I think it was indeed pretty special. Really excited about these guys. Am going to try to see them twice more this week. Have pretty high quality video of the whole gig. Spoke to Jehn of the band afterwards. They have a singularity of vision and would actually prefer that I not post the vids and instead beg to use as archival footage to put together their own stuff. I can completely respect that. I normally wouldn't even think to ask other bands for such permission, but these guys have a certain vision. I hope they make something good of their intentions.

The cause of the excitement was a lineup of six female-heavy bands that had become much discussed during the first day of the CMJ Music Marathon. Put together by Popgun publicity and the music blog Stereogum, the bill Wednesday night not only had Dum Dum Girls as the headliners and Savages as one of the opening acts, but also featured Guards, Io Echo, Port St. Willow and Icona Pop, which is a new Swedish electro-pop duo. It was the hottest ticket to have on the second day of the festival, and hundreds of people showed up, many of them thinking they would automatically get in.[/i]
