Yeah, it's a problem. These 80s heroes are middle-aged or senior citizens now. We want to see them as they were in their prime, but they just aren't anymore.

Peter Murphy, lead singer of the British goth-rock group Bauhaus, was arrested Saturday on suspicion of causing injuries while driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, felony hit-and-run and possession methamphetamine, the Glendale News-Press reports.

Murphy reportedly rear-ended another vehicle in Glendale, California, then fled to nearby Los Angeles. An eyewitness pursued the singer to L.A., eventually blocking his car until police showed up. Glendale police say the witness pursued Murphy because "he was afraid [Murphy] would kill someone with his driving."

Los Angeles police detained Murphy until Glendale officers arrived. They said the singer appeared to be "very confused" and was having trouble recalling the day and time.

Though Murphy denied consuming any alcohol, saying he'd just taken his regular prescription medication for depression and that he was jet-lagged from a recent flight, officers reportedly found a small plastic bag possibly filled with methamphetamine. The singer denied the bag was his, though officers believe he tried to discard it in the patrol car he was being held in.

Murphy, who currently lives in Turkey, remained in custody on Monday. He faces a $500,000 bond, set after police believed he might be a flight risk.

That's exactly what I thought. Had to be the drugs. That, or I've got bigger balls under my cape than he does.

This has been a harsh week and not over yet, that's
for sure. I'm sitting out the whole tour and anything
else until we really hear the whole story of what
happened this past weekend out there in Cali. What
a total bloody nightmare. That's all I can say right now.
Like someone on our Peter Murphy Roll Call Yahoo board
said Monday morning: "there are no words." Causing
total depression, in my case. Biggest bummer in a long time.

Dude, unless you're Peter Murphy, you're just taking this a bit too hard.
