Shouldn't that be 'Tin Drum' turning 35 years old in 2017?
It's a great album. Japan are fascinating, I saw them in 1978 when I was 16, they were supporting Blue Oyster Cult on a UK tour. At the time Japan were very influenced by the New York Dolls, and also performed a cover of the Rolling Stones' 'Heartbreaker' . A couple of the band were wearing dresses. Some of the quite macho rock audience were quite abusive, other like myself were intrigued.
Two years later they totally changed, got into electronic music , wearing suits. Part of their appeal was that they split up at their peak at the end of 1982 I think it was or early 1983. 'Tin Drum' was their last studio album , though a live album ' Oil on Canvas' appeared in 1983.

Yes there was indeed but I honestly don't remember them ! I have had to google the band......see that they released an album in 1991, and consisted of Japan -under a different name- with guest musicians. Listening to it now, at first hearing sounds more like one of David Sylvian's better solo albums.

It basically was a David Sylvian solo album. He took the masters and finished it on his own separate from the other members after the whole thing broke down at mid-point.
