Reading through these posts has brought back excellent memories. I've been to many "best" and "worst" concerts...too many to choose just one.

The Jones Beach Theater (Long Island) is my favorite place to see a show. The acoustics are great, if you know where to park it is easy to get out and John Mellencamp had a heart attack there...enough said.

I saw the Psychedelic Furs there in 1987 and Richard Butler pulled a girl up on stage from the audience. Since this was not communicated beforehand to security, the front-stage security staff "walked out" and things got out of control. Dozens of people jumped up on stage and the band kept playing through the mayhem. I also remember the saxophone was too damn loud and my ears rang for hours afterwards. The opening band was The Call, they played to sparse applause, walked off in silence and returned for an "encore". I felt bad for them since you could hear the chirping of crickets as they walked back onto the stage.

I've never been to a bad Depeche Mode show there. I've never been to a good New Order show there.

I've also been to several concerts there that I wouldn't have gone to otherwise. I saw Bryan Adams there, dragged by my wife. I left the show thinking, "that was actually a pretty good concert". Later that night we were sitting in a diner the news came on that Princess Diana had died. Thanks to Princess Diana, I never had to admit to my wife that I enjoyed the show.

To some, the arena is now known as "The Tommy Hilfiger Jones Beach Theater". To me, it's where I saw my first Concert...Depeche Mode in 1986. The two women standing in front of me made-out during "A Question Of Lust". Those were the days...

I remember that concert at Jones Beach - I remember PIL and the Sugar Cubes touring with them - it was tough night to get through...

<br>Best Concert..Almost a religous experience U2 The Joshua Tree Tour 1987 at Madison Square Garden. A close second..Peter Murphy Acoustic Alive She Cried show in Philly.

Worst Concert...New Order 1989 at Jones Beach in NY. It was the only concert I walked out on. They hated being there and stayed in one place while they looked at their feet.

DM and Jones Beach were a great combination. Remember the rain drops falling through lights as everyone waved their arms to Never Let me Down Again?

Jones Beach also brought me my worst concert moment - Fine Young Cannibals in 1989...

#1 Asia Tour of Phil Collins in '93. It was held at the football field, and it rained hard. The venue was full. When it rained only VERY FEW people left. We stayed, and Phil loved us for not leaving. There was mud all over (like woodstock 69)

#2 Michael Jackson in '96. The effects are soooo gooood. I think being a superstar really makes a difference. Sorry new wave fans. LOL.

Among the worst are Kenny Rankin and Air Supply (biggest yuck, it was part of a back-to-back concert, I hate Air Supply in the 1st place)

I saw the same concert in 85/86 (in SoCal)and they did upstage the Twins.[:)]

among the worst were some the cure festival appearances, shitty sound, boring setlist,... crap weather, the usual stuff - among them werchter 2000, roskilde 2001 (best of them: kiel 1996, strasbourg 2000)
the best is difficult, but one of the best for sure was martin gore's soloshow in hamburg 2003 - magnificent! also new order brixton 2001 I enjoyed very much... + a lovely sologig of wayne hussey of the mission - with just keyboards + acoustic guitar (2002)

The best probably was Bowie in 1975 as he was in top form.I haven,t really seen a bad show.I don,t dig reggae and had to sit through Black Uhuru opening for the Clash, and I remember the Rumor being very boring.

The best:

INVISIBLE LIMITS [ SALOU 1990 ]
PETER MURPHY [ VALENCIA 1991 ]
THE CURE [ BARCELONA 1989 ]
INVINCIBLE SPIRIT [ BARCELONA 2003 ]
NEON JUDGEMENT [ BARCELONA 2004 ]
ESCAPE WITH ROMEO [ BARCELONA 2004 ]
And many more..

The worst:

WOLFSHEIM [ BARCELONA 2003 ] It lasted only 25 minutes, Peter Heppner had backache.
THE SISTERS OF MERCY [ BARCELONA 2002 ] The worst concert I've ever attended. They came out to stage dressed in jumpsuits. I didn't see a single sparkle of gothic in the band.

Best: The Clash, Grand Circus Theatre in Detroit, August 1982.

Worst: Laibach, Metro in Chicago, Summer 1992. (But, it was hilarious: they were painted gold and they appeared to be lip-synching and playing to backing tracks. I still laugh about that one.)

One of the best was Big Audio Dynamite - Irving Plaza right when their second album was coming out - they played 4 - 5 nights.

Worst - Echo & the Bunnymen but it was a makeup show on a monday night & I couldn't drink.

Moparmark, I'm so jealous of you for seeing Bowie in 1975 -- WOW!

Mike Hunt -- great name [:D]

God, I saw so many shows it's hard to pinpoint best and worst.

Off the top of my head ...

BEST
The Clash, Capital Theatre, Passaic, NJ 1981, same tour Waukena saw.

WORST
Well, I fell asleep at a Lou Reed concert once [:I]

The best shows I've been to: Dead Kennedys with Social Distortion in 1985, B-52s at Irvine Meadows in 1989, Ramones with Blondie and Tom Tom Club at Irvine Meadows in the late 80s, They Might Be Giants at the Wiltern in 1992, Psychedelic Furs at the University of Redlands in the late 80s, the Fixx at University of Redlands in the late 80s,and the Dickies at Club Monopoly's in Riverside in 1987 or 1988(I got to meet the band after the show, and they were really cool).

The worst shows I've been to: the Replacements at University of Redlands in 1991(like some posters above, I also had an experience of them being too drunk to play, starting and stopping songs, and pouring beer on the audience), the Cure at Dodger's Stadium in 1989(we were so far back that we could barely see the opening acts which included the Pixies, and then I had a Coke thrown in my face when someone tried to start a food fight-I got up to get toweled off, and when I tried to get back to my seat, people had crowded into the exits, so I spent the whole time that the Cure played in the doorway of one of the exits not being able to see the band, since I am only five feet tall). Other bad shows I've been to include Iron Maiden(my friends had convinced me to see Guns and Roses with them at Irvine Meadows, but they canceled and Iron Maiden played instead), and a local punk concert where a friend had a tooth knocked out.
