How much credence do you guys give to this ? Am I interpreting it correctly in that they claim CDs will someday go away, but at the same time they never will, just that they won't be the primary source of music in the future?

I think technology is great I really do but I have to say that I miss records. There was a lot of character to them with their scratches and warpness. CD's are much more easier to handle but trying to find all the good 80's albums on cd's are challenging

Although there will always be bigger and better technology for our music, I agree with mygreen on this. Maybe it is because we grew up with lp.s but I do miss them. I still have a huge collection that I will not part with. No I can't take my records with

Well since I got my ipod, i havent burned one cd. It's the coolest thing in the world. I hope some day they will have it so the album cover art shows on the screen while the song plays.

I don't miss the pops and clicks of records. I still have mine, pretty much all mint, always handled and stored with major TLC. But I hate opening a new record, throwing it on and haviong lots of noise, even after it is cleaned.

I sold all my LP's in college - and regret it to this day. CD's are a far superior format for portability, quality, and longevity; however I agree that one day they will go away like everything else. The only constant is change. I have roughly 1400 CD'

Since they are getting so dang cheap. Why cant record companies remaster every DAT in their posession to CD?

Like that unreleased Michael Sembello album which the song "Rock until you drop" was taken from.
