Which teams define the era?
Football - SF 49ers
Baseball - NY Mets
Hockey - Edmonton Oilers
Basketball - LA Lakers
College football - Nebraska

I have a different take on it, for me the teams that represented the 80's best were:
Baseball: Los Angeles Dodgers ala Fernando Valenzuela, The Yankees ala Reggie Jackson, and Craig Nettles, oh and the Goose.
Football: Chicage Bears ala William Perry,
