I am considering hitting up LA in early December to escape the winter weather. I'd like to do stuff that's not "touristy". Are there places of interest for a new waver to hit? I'd like to try a few record stores for some obscure finds. There's gotta be an LA equivalent to Sam the Record man(Toronto).

Already trying to plan to meet Josie Cotton in Malibu. Wish me luck on that part.

Stay at The Standard hotel. It's in Hollywood. It's "retro" and NOT expensive.

I'll be staying with a friend in Pasadena, so more $$$ can be spent elsewhere.

Amoeba IS huge. I could have spent 8 hours and $800.

Go to the Black Light Lounge on Santa Monica and Western. Go on a weekday afternoon, then on a Saturday night and compare the crowds.

Definitely Amoeba's but be prepared to spend a lot of money and be totally overwhelmed. Other things to do:
