Devil, I think Edison was kidding. Your reaction says something interesting about you, though.

Yeah, you are right. I must be having a stressful day and not realizing it. I guess I am also being a little over-protective of my wife. Anyway, I am always up for a little psycohanalysis...what do you think my response said about me? I hope it is something funny!!

Well, you took a joke and reacted with the most hateful statement and cruelest personal insult I have ever seen on this board. What do YOU think that says about you?

Are you still in publishing? I've been in publishing for a very long time, and once you get into it, you can't get out, it's completely addicting!

I worked on the biz side, not editorial, unfortunately. Not working in publishing now...doing marketing.

Ebbhead, that's still really cool though -- at least you were in a creative environment. I bet the Xmas parties were a lot of fun :)

But if you look at the people in this thread, half are gone. And they were all very confrontational. I just think it comes in waves, people get along for a while, then they argue, then back. I didn't enjoy it back then because I was the one everyone picked on. ALOT. By most on this thread and others. They all blamed me for bringing down this site, being racist being homophobic....and on and on.But as time went on I learned who to kid with, who not to kid with, and who I could really talk to as friends. I did make alot of friends here so I look at the positive here. It used to be alot worse for me.

Hell, you can definitely count me as one of your friends, philly. Anyone who can take some ribbing about looking like a Monkee and not only NOT get bent out of shape, but find it just as funny, is A-OK in my book.

I feel just the same as you about getting picked on for NOTHING. Just because I have an opinion or two, and post a lot. Unlike you, I eventually decide to not give a crap. If it's between their twisted wishes or mine, I'll happily play the role of 800 lb. gorilla. Unlike most folks, when I get bullied, I bully right back.

And Mare, take some advice from BOSTON and "Don't Look Back". Shame on me for that one...I'm glad you're back. Feel free to tell me when you think I'm going too far here. I'm very open to constructive criticism (but not bashing) There IS a difference, folks!

The good old days?
More like the dark ages unless you enjoy conversing with automatons, observing Orwellian "new think" speech codes, and Stalinesque like enforcement of all things socially-correct against those not EXACTLY LIKE YOU.

Philly is 100% right.

Cool to know that there is people here that enjoy writing and work in journalism. I'll be happy to read one of Mare´s articles if she publishes anything online.

Well, I assume Philly was not talking about me when it comes to the confrontational stuff. [:D] I was surprised to see my own postings in this old thread since I haven't been around much around too much lately. (Too much drama and attention-seeking behavior.)

That said, I have just under 100K words on the ol' novel and am hoping to get another 150K done this year, then edit it back down to around 130-140K. I'd completely forgotten about this thread. Don't think I'll need to start sucking up to those with publishing contacts for at least another year . . . [}:)]

My original post here, just about two years ago, was to solicit your e-mails regarding memories of Skoochies or similar 83-84 New Wave clubs to spur my own memories. That request still stands! E-mail me through my profile if you like.

I got my picture in rolling stone once, naked, hanging from a crane with metal studded straps. It was a promo for a band called the Tubes.
