as for "shock"- i tried and tried to like it after enjoying the first 30 minutes or so, and i'm a fan of the bavas. and i loved the hand coming out of the wardrobe, that was great. but the end... er.. not so much. and i'm a huge daria nicoladi fan, and the goblin score was great too... oh well, different strokes. my b.f. didn't care for "the beyond" at all, and i loved it, mostly. even the hell/limbo ending. (i've spoiled nothing, it won't make sense any way you watch it)

It's on DVD - in fact I think it's been released a couple of times in that format - one bare bones, and one with some nice extras (that's the one I've got).

I sort of remember the Legacy...can't recall much about it though!

Was Burnt Offerings the one where the obnoxious kid gets crushed by a falling chimmney? That was satisfying. I've always wanted to see the Changeling too.

Come on over - but I warn you - I am not a sushi man - can we eat a lot of M&Ms and junk food????

I didn't think you meant that "sewing circle"[:0] I've heard and read about it as others have told me, but have yet to give that one a spin. Imdb has some bizarre and strange reviews of the antics of the 8 minute feature. First thing that came to mind was the Japanese Guinea Pig series, except those guys are pure, 100% gore sfx (some of the best I have seen - stuff that could rival Tom Savini's work). I wouldn't think either is for the faint of heart...

Strother Martin, best known for "What we have here is failya to communicate" from Cool Hand Luke. He was also the GM in 'Slapshot' and more obscurely, Tommy Chong's father in 'Up in Smoke'...

Yeah, Burnt Offerings was that one...Oliver Reed and Bette Davis...it was creepy as hell...

also, 'Eraserhead' was one of the weirdest creepy movies ever from David Lynch...I've seen this movie sober, drunk, stoned and every other way you could imagine...it still makes no sense but it's really creepy...

And I agree with anybody who voted for 'Event Horizon'. Makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up just thinking about it...

Oh...'Stigmata' too...excellent flick with Patricia Arquette...

Did anyone see "The Reincarnation of Peter Proud" (1974)?

That's one of my favorite movies, a real psychological thriller.

They don't make them like that anymore.

And what about "Class of 84"? That was a new wave/punk thriller, I think most of you would dig it.

The original Dawn Of The Dead is my all time favorite. Back in 1990 or so, my friend & I went to the Monroeville mall near Pittsburgh where it was filmed. Most of the stores in the movie were gone, but we still ran around like idiots trying to find whatever we could from the film. We must've ridden the elevator about 10 times. sadly, the blood pressure machine was gone.

My favorite scary movies are...

1. Joyride-- I love this movie. "Candy Cane!!!!" I was scared of truckers for quite a while after I saw this one.

2. Jeepers Creepers-- Kind of like Joyride, except there's a monster in it!

3. Signs-- it made me want to jump out of my seat eventhough we hardly ever get to see the monsters/aliens until the end of the movie.

4. Sleepy Hallow (the one with Johnny Depp)-- Not the scariest movie in the world, but the scenery and the overall forboding mood of the movie is what makes this one great!

Zombie movies really, really freak me out - to the point that I start making hypothetical survival plans on the off chance there is a zombie invasion.

Really, I don't have issues that medication couldn't take care of![:D]

But, I recently watched Day of the Dead on TV - it was edited big-time - but I made it all the way through & thought it was pretty alright!

Has anyone seen the Karen Black film, Trilogy of Terror. The third story about the doll that comes to life was very scary.

Will add:

Halloween- I like this film for the music, the period in which was filmed, and the time of year it takes place.

Texas Chainsaw- the original, oh course.

Friday the 13th- the first one only. I liked the ending with Jason's mother going all crazy- interesting twist.

The Hills Have Eyes- Wes Craven.

Nightmare on Elm Street- Wes Craven

As for T.V., I get creeped out when I watch Unsolved Mysteries and In Search Of...

Anything directed by Alfred Hitchcock, but especially PSYCHO. I think that's the scariest movie of all time.

Tod Browning's classic FREAKS was more creepy than scary but the ending was even more disturbing than PSYCHO.

My other faves are:
CAT PEOPLE (The original 1940s version)
DEVIL DOLL
ALIEN
THE EXORCIST
WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE
NOSFERATU
HOUSE OF WAX (The Original with Vincent Price)

These two films creep me out completely. They're like watching someone else's nightmare:
ERASERHEAD
VAMPYR

DayGloJo

PS If you want to hear about a really scary movie ask Wolverine abourt THE MAN WHO LAUGHED [;)]

What a piece of shit! One halloween, many years ago DayGlo, Bflogrl & I went to see a silent horror movie marathon. They showed a half hour cut of Nosferatu (!) and then what seemed like a 9 hour version of The Man Who Laughed - which is not scary, only idiotic. We acted up so much that I think we got kicked out.
