News of the weird: mystery animal

Check this out:

Keep in mind that I've already seen other photos from Texas and the Northeast that show this same or similar canine-like creature, so we're almost certainly talking about a heretofore unknown species.

Where's Mulder and Scully when you need them![:0] To succinctly quote Frohike of the Lone Gunmen: "Weirdness."

That is so gnarrly. It is a crossbread of some sort. Like some mad scientist is cooking up some genetic engeneering over at Rice U. That is so cool where is my Browning Hunting Rifle (win.270)?

Interesting. Until the Native Americans killed them all off about 11,000 years ago, there was a hyaena-like scavenger native to North America, and it lived alongside the American Lion, Cheetah, and giant ground sloth.

"It's most likely a an as-of-yet undiscovered North American species invaluable to the scientific community and zoologic study."

For some reason this story reminds me of the famous urban legend of the Mexican Rat:

Philly,

The Tasmanian marsupial you are thinking of was called a thylacine. It looked like a big striped dog. I think the last one died in captivity died in 1937.
