I am wondering what books are you guys reading.

For me out side of the Bible, bible commentaries, apologetics, and systematic and biblical theologies.

here is a list of what type of stuff I read.

So here a list of some of my favorite secular books. (a bit dated but very 90s stuff)

1. Neil Postman--Amusing Ourselves to Death
2. Neil Postman--Technopoly
3. Niel Postman--The End of Education
4. James Davidson Hunter--Culture Wars
5. Ann Douglas--The Feminization of American Culture (the No.1 ammo against feminism written by a feminist herself but sympathieses with a masculane intulectual older American culture fueled by Calvinism. the femin-nazies hate this book)
6. Allen Bloom--The Closing of the American Mind
7. Herold Bloom--The American Religion: The Emergance of a Post-Christian America
8. Oliver Windell Holmes--The Autocrat at the Breakfast Table
9. Alexis De Tocqueville--Democracy In America
10. C.S. Lewis--Out of the Silent Planet, Perelandra, That Hidious Strenth
11. Gene Edward Vieth--Postmodern Times (though a Christian book by Crossway it is the best social commentary)
12. Morris Berman--The Twilight of American Culture
13. Dorthy Sayers--Who's Body?
14. Dorthy Sayers--Creed or Chaos
15. Dorthy Sayers--The mind of the Maker
16. Leon Kass--The Hungry Soul : Eating and the Perfecting of Our Nature

and for a change of pace I just picked up Tatum O'Neal's auto "A Paper Life"

cheers,
ql

Sheesh, QL. Way to heavy for me. I mostly read for entertainment and relaxation.

Currently working on Neuromancer by William Gibson. I know I'm a latecomer to Gibson. The last few before that:

Quite Life: You and my boss (who is a PhD in Theology) would have a lot in common to discuss.
As for me, I was a fairly avid book reader up until 6 or 7 years ago.
Too much on my plate and no down time.

We English teachers have a joke that we're so busy teaching novels that we do not have time to really READ novels ourselves!
I'm a big-time reader, when I have the time. I often read 3 books at once, skipping around among them.

I am currently reading The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown and Forbidden Archeology: The Hidden History of the Human Race by Michael Cremo & Richard Thompson. I usually read two books at the same time, that way I never get bored with one.

I am usually just too busy to find much time to read, but while I was on vacation this summer I did manage to read the classics "Anthem" and "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand.
