First this guy strays off course so a crew member can wave to friends on shore. While canoodling/being distracted with a young, blonde hottie on the bridge, he hits some rocks and destroys his own cruise ship.

He quickly abandons the Costa Concordia leaving crew and passengers to fend for themselves amid panic and hysteria. He claim he "tripped" and accidentally fell into a lifeboat. He subsequently refuses a repeated, direct order by the Italian Coast Guard to return to his ship to assist remaining survivors and report on the damage.

12 confirmed dead, more unaccounted for, millions in damages.

Yesterday, lawyers for the captain denied allegations that he had abandoned ship. "The captain defended his role on the direction of the ship after the collision, which in the captain's opinion saved hundreds if not thousands of lives," lawyer Bruno Leporatti said.

Some news reports were that the Costa Concordia disaster was "Like a scene out of the film 'Titanic'"... and I'm like, the land is right there.

Are you allowed to shoot a Captain for doing this? I hope so.
