For fuck's sake. At age 48? Although i was never a big fan of her music, I never doubted her ability to sing. What a waste.

Did you know that Whitney Houston's debut LP, called simply Whitney Houston had 4 number one singles on it?

Shocking but not surprising. I had such a huge crush on her back in the day.

This is actually pretty moving. It's 2010 and here's Whitney Houston struggling to get through her signature song. The voice is failing and it's a tough watch HOWEVER scroll to about the 2:40 mark when it's time for the "big moment" in the song...and she nails it. The crowd goes nuts, etc.

Oh gag. I have no sympathy for these people who live advantaged lives and self destruct. Boo friggin hoo. I mean she consciously married Bobby Brown. Talk about licking the gutter. But aside from that, I hated her music passionately. I remember being in the fag bars in the late 80's and screaming anytime one of her godawful songs came on. Just another gay diva that makes me want to hurl. Then when that lousy Titanic song was on endless rotation, I was ready for a bullet in the head. Sorry, but I can't stand when everyone decides to put someone on a high because they are dead, when just a week before they were a punchline to a joke. Morning vent over...

I would argue she's struggling to stay conscious. Truly bizarre. It's like watching Leonardo spray paint graffiti over the Mona Lisa.

Whodathunk Etta James would almost outlive her.

It had to be said. Perhaps I am Track 1 on The Stranglers' album 'Aural Sculpture', but I'm fine with that.

Sony Records jacked up the price of Houston's back catalogue by 60% just hours after her death.

Let the profiteering begin!
