TT shut down tonight. Very sad for those of us that were regulars. I'm grateful that I got to meet everyone from here who was on there. I'm better for having met you all.

I might actually buy the t-shirt and wear it ironically at SXSW, because that's exactly the kind of thing SXSW hipsters do.

I wonder what their burn rate was to keep the site going? I'm surprised they couldn't find a way to monetize it. In fact, wouldn't it make sense for iTunes or spotify or someone to buy it, bolt it to their sites and allow you to play songs that are available for purchase? I know that takes a lot of obscurities off the table, but you get what I'm saying? I bought music I otherwise would never have heard if not for TT. It just seems like a real lack of imagination to me, unless there are legal and licensing issues that I have no appreciation for.

I think they said banning uploads saved them $20,000 a month. The cash burn had to be staggering.

Anyone could've told them that they were wasting their time on Piki, and they told everyone to use an ad blocker if they didn't like the ads. Not the kings of finance, these guys.
