This was a "legacy" game for Peyton and he knew it. Now he's not only not one of the best ever, he's not even the best quarterback in his own family. More playoff losses than any QB in history.

Lil brother Eli has a much better record when it counts... and one more ring. I suppose since Peyton set a Superbowl record for number of completed passes he should have beed named MVP. In reality, Manning threw just one more touchdown pass than Bruno Mars. But Bruno had three less turnovers!

Best QB conversation no longer is Peyton’s place

your original comment that he is no longer one of the best ever is ridiculous though from your original post. Ask any GM or anyone with football knowledge which brother they would rather have, not some dumbass sports writer hack or sports talk idiot. Best ever? Nope, Probably not. One of the all time greatest? Absolutely. Most playoff losses ever, ok. Have to make the playoffs. 1-3 in SuperBowls, ok. That means he led his team to 3 Super Bowls. 5 MVP's. Does Tom Brady suck because he lost to Denver (not Peyton Manning) and didn't make the Super Bowl this year?
Did Denver play poorly? Yup. Did Peyton throw a bad interception? yup (I would argue he shouldn't have tried to throw the one that his arm got hammered but shouldn't we be bagging on the lineman who got destroyed on the play to allow it to happen?). Did Peyton fail to tackle anyone all game or snap the ball over his own head or let the Harvin run back the pooch kickoff? Football is a team sport and Denver stunk up the field. They were doomed from the start and you see it happen in sports all the time when something starts bad and a team gets steamrolled. The old saying goes "Defense wins championships". Seattle had the #1 defense in the NFL and it showed.

By the way, I hate the Broncos (and never liked the Colts) and Joe Montana was the greatest of all time if you ask me. Brady right there. Manning as well. I just get frustrated with people making ignorant statements in an effort to be controversial. Have some respect for the game and yourself.

"Dear Coop,

Thanks for defending my honor and getting on my jock. Although I sometimes wonder if the zealots who reactively proclaim me one of the best ever have actually caused me and my team bad karma. I guess hyping me that way is just as bad as ignorantly making "controversial" statements about how I suck.

I'm glad that in YOUR mind I'm in the same company as Brady and Montana. They were both great regular season quarterbacks too. Anyway, I hope to get back to .500 in the playoffs before Eli gets his third ring.

Try not to get frustrated with the haters and do what I do when I'm scared, yell "OMAHA" as loud as you can! And thanks again for helping me keep my dream alive.

Love,

Peyton"

actually made me laugh. From the better late than never category, I was going to start listing the fact that he had more records than a washed up dj and has 5 MVP's and a Super Bowl trophy and Super Bowl MVP but realized I was getting master trolled as no one could possibly believe this. I do love these comments from people I am guessing know way more than both of us put together:

Seattle Seahawk after the game:
"Peyton's still the greatest quarterback to ever play the game," defensive end Michael Bennett said.

and from two-time Pro Bowler Rodney Harrison (and former Brady teammate):
"I think Peyton has been so unfairly judged because he really didn't have that defense over the years like Tom," Harrison said. Tom had a lot of veteran players, a lot of really good defenses, where if he didn't play particularly well, he knew that he had a defense with a lot of veteran players that could save him. Whereas, Peyton didn't really have that advantage. If Peyton was on our team, I think we could have easily won three Super Bowls, no doubt about it."

I'll just be spending my time now wondering where to put Joe Flacco on my list...
