and FLOAT... and DIVE?

... like a fish I can! [:p] (ok, not really, but who says I can't exaggerate? [:D]) I like floating a lot more 'coz it tends to make me feel soothingly relaxed. I would usually swim as far as I could and then start floating (but sometimes the waves carry me back to the shore [:D]).

I learned to swim/dive/float back in my elementary years just trying on my own. No "instructors" whomsoever. Funny thing was the way I learned to dive- I used to watch my cousins throw a white stone and compete diving for it. So, I figured that if I would carry a huge stone with me, it would take me down to the bottom and then I could proceed swimming under the waters. So, I did (clutching the stone in my chest) and voila! I learned to dive! [:D].. Our house is just nearby a beach. (It's now a great time to go swimming here in Dubai and in the Phils. as well)

So, who can swim and who can not? If you could, how and when did you learn?

My mom, who never learned how to swim, was determined to make sure that I could. I could swim from about the same time I could walk.

I took regular lessons, and I used to be on a swim team. I still swim and surf regularly, and I live about 10 minutes

Taught myself how to swim...and even did a few backward dives off the high-dive at our community pool in my early teens. Now, I'm too skeered to try it!

Nothing better on a 95-degree, 95% humidity July day in Maryland than being in the water.

School is killing me because I love to swim! I bought a 24 foot pool a few years back and I loved it! It wasn't until recently when I took a microbiology class, I learned a lot about the water in water parks, swimming pools and of course lakes, rivers etc

Mom taught us all to swim when we were very little using in toss-em-in-and-let-em-figure-it-out approach. She showed us what to do, dragged us into the middle of the pool and let go.
