Next Wave Trading Circle?

Postby Frau_Blucher » Wed Mar 22, 2006 10:54 am

I'd love to expand my next wave/anything new horizons. Anyone interested in starting up a mix CD trading circle like we did for new wave? I just made a somewhat mainstream MP3 CD comp for a buddy in LA. Not a mix per se but rather a sampling of recent stuff. If interested, email me with name and address and I'll privately compile the list for interested parties. Feedback on the idea?

I'm willing to do it as long as the recipient is willing to tolerate/stomach my obsession with EBM/futurepop/electro-industrial crap nonsense [:D]

Great idea for a thread. I'll start digging around, and ask some of my hired help for suggestions.

What's weird about this thread is that some days ago I was telling someone the same idea that Blir had!! And my choices for the compilation were similar.

That list above is really good... I would add some Aqueduct and Action Action.
Didn't see any The Rapture either (Sister Saviour is a Next Wave anthem by now).

Blir, that's a great idea! I started a CD-R comp for a friend back in '99 called 'Fresh Sounds' which has grown into an annual 2-CD event which I give to over a dozen of my friends and family around X-Mas. I could easily compile my past 3 comps onto a single MP3 CD.

I'd certainly slap a bunch of MP3's on a disc, but there's actually a flow to the track sequencing, so I'd keep that intact.

I'll add to that list the following songs:
Sister savior- The Rapture
Love is all- The Rapture
Drug like- Action Action (those that are lucky to live in NYC, should check this band)
Hardcore days and softcore nights- Aqueduct
Seek you- Mellow
William- The Others
Sunlight makes me feel paranoid- Elephant (their singer is argentinian, ha!)
My doorbell- The White Stripes
Hope there's someone- Anthony and the Johnsons

The idea sounds great, but I don't know if we might get copyright problems when doing this. Sharing out-of-print mp3s from the 80s within a group of people is one thing, should be no problem as long as nobody claims copyrights that are not "used" anymore because the songs are out of print ("no accuse, no judge"). But starting to share actual music might become a problem and it would be pretty bad if they shut down this forum because of this...

P.S.: I'm not a Saint, I do use Emule and Bear Share from time to time:-)
